World’s Fourth Largest Automaker is born!
Multinational corporation Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V, the 8th largest carmaker in the world, has merged with Groupe Peugeot SA to form the fourth largest carmaker in the world - Stellantis.

It will be headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherland, with its shares listed on the Borsa Italiana, New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Euronext Paris.
There will be 14 brands under the roof, which includes Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Ram, Citroen, DS, Opel, Peugeot and Vauxhall, FCA and PSA brands.
This merger will add more colours to the automotive industry, with more modern vehicle architectures, and more advanced technologies shared, which will result to more appealing and fun cars for the future.
Platform sharing between automakers is not foreign in the industry today. The progress of the platform sharing between the companies was said to have aided in the introduction of new technology such as components for electric automobiles. Next to that, we have Renault and Nissan who shared their technology to develop engines and transmissions as well as Mercedes-Benz which is made up of two of the oldest automobile manufacturers in the world who have been together for finest 90 years.
Globally, the automotive industry is already a highly competitive market, we at Caricarz are eager to see the progress of Stellantis and we hope that they will introduce a new brand and exciting new models with this merger because the last thing Stellantis will want is to have all 14 brands competing against each other.
In 2019, the two companies sold a total of 8 million vehicles, which is about 3 million vehicles less than Volkswagen Group.
It was also reported that shares of Stellantis will begin trading on stock markets in Paris and Milan on January 18, 2021, and on the New York Stock Exchange on January 19, 2021.
The merger requires some final regulatory approvals, which includes those from the European Union and European Central Bank.
