10 Machines From The 2021 Shanghai Auto Show That Has Potential For the M’sian Market
This year’s Shanghai Auto Show has shown a remarkable display of vehicles ranging from their country’s local brands to other international brands.
On that note, Caricarz had come up with two lists prior and now we have made another one and it is all about the 10 vehicles we think that might make its way to Malaysia.
In no particular order, first on the list is the Audi A6 e-tron. Thus far, it is only a concept, but the A6 saloon is estimated to go on sale in 2023.

Its electric motor has about 700 km of range and is paired to a 100 kWh battery pack, which is compatible with a 270 kW charger.

Driving dynamics wise, both rear and four-wheel-drive options will be available and the top ranging variants are said to be packing a punch of about 476 hp.
Coming in second, is the Audi Q4 e-tron. Overall, its silhouette looks like a thoroughly modern SUV, however, its advanced electric motors, augmented reality head-up display and use of recycled interior materials all help it stand out amongst the crowd.

Set to go on sale in June, the Q4 e-tron will be fitted with either a 52 kWh or 77 kWh battery pack option.

The cell pack paired to a more aerodynamic Sportback model gives the EV up to 528 km of range. It can be expected to cost from around £36,000 (RM 204,880) when it hits the international market soon.
Third, is the BMW M3 & M4 xDrive. Its latest and highest ranging ‘Competition’ guise are already on sale in the UK.

However, the four-wheel-drive xDrive variants will arrive later in the summer, as t has just been revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show.

Performance aspects, the engines are mechanically identical to the standard rear-wheel drive cars but the grip of the all-wheel-drive system brings the 0 – 100 km/h time down from 3.9 to 3.5 seconds.
Following that is, Citroen C5 X. the company is back to producing jaw-dropping designs and the upcoming C5 X does not disappoint.

Can be seen with a layout that offers the advantages of an estate car, saloon and SUV all in one design.

Sales of this C5 X will start later this year. With it you can expect a range of petrol and plug-in hybrid engines as well as a new comfort-focused active suspension system.
Fifth on the list is Lexus ES. This version revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show is the updated variant and its most notable changes are the new ‘BladeScan’ adaptive LED headlights, a set of new wheels and a range of paint colour options.

Inside the chassis, the rear suspension has been tuned to make the car more agile at high speeds and the hybrid motor’s regenerative braking system has been optimised to enhance the driving experience further.

Apart from that, the Lexus ES will also be fitted with the brand’s latest Safety System+ suite of driver assistance features. It will make its mark in the UK later this year.
Next up, is the Maserati Levante Hybrid. It will be sporting a hybrid 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and it is said to offer the performance of its entry-level V6 variants but with far greater efficiency.

Other than that, the system will use a 48V mild-hybrid setup to replenish energy during braking which can then power an electric motor that assists the petrol engine at low revs.

The combined output from the mill produces about 330 hp and this can accelerate the hybrid Levante from a standstill to 100 km in just under 6 seconds.
Number seven on the list, the Mercedes-Benz EQB. With the EQA given the EV treatment, now the next class from Mercedes to be converted to electric power is the GLB.

Called the EQB, this new electric seven-seater comes with a subtly altered exterior and some minor interior updates. Mercedes will be offering the EQB with a 66.5 kWh battery that can go up to 476 km of range.

Ranking at number eight, is the Mercedes EQS. The recently announced Mercedes EQS is about as expensive and luxurious as it’ll get.

Essentially being an electric S-Class but packed with even more tech. Aside from the striking design and two-tone paintwork, the EQS will be available with a massive glass ‘Hyperscreen’ display that covers the entire dashboard and console with 3 integrated screens.

Its electric motor will be offered with a 108 kWh battery delivering up to 769 km of range, and all models will be capable of using the super-quick 200 kW public chargers.
Ninth, is the Nissan X-Trail. The new X-Trail is expected to go on sale next year in the UK. Designing aspects, it follows the pattern set by the new Nissan Qashqai, and looks much more modern than the current model.

Packing a new e-Power hybrid drive system that is able to produce an output of about 188 hp, giving it a strong performance as well as the promise of low consumption figures. Its interior offers seven seats just like the one in the market now.

Topping the list at number ten, is the Volkswagen ID.6. It will be offered in two trims, the Crozz and the X.

Volkswagen already has the ID.3 and ID.4 electric cars, but with this seven-seater ID.6, it plans to offer an even larger SUV for the Chinese market.
Albeit built to sport the same underpinnings and platform as its smaller SUVs, with it being a seven-seater there will be an additional 30 cm longer in the length compared to the ID.4.

Fitted with the largest 77 kWh battery the company has to offer and it can drive the ID6 up to about 587 km of range.
On the performance levels, it is said to be similar to the ID.4, although the slightly heavier ID.6 won’t feel quite as torque.
To sum up, these ten amazing vehicles are set to be sold in many of the international markets and we are in hopes that the Malaysian market will also get to see at least some of these machines here sometime in the future.
