Lamborghini To Go Green, Announces $1.8 Billion For Electrification Plans?
Volkswagen AG’s Italian brand, Lamborghini has announced a $1.8 billion investment as part of their plan to shift from gas-powered to electric for its renowned supercars. Being the largest investment ever for the brand, the new fleet of supercars is aimed to cut emission by half starting in 2025.

Additionally, the brand announced that by 2024, it will offer plug-in hybrid versions of each model in its lineup - from the Urus SUV to the Aventador. Lamborghini aims to reduce carbon emissions by 50 percent, possibly by the beginning of 2025 with further plans to roll out a fully electrified model in the second half of the decade. It is rumoured that the vehicle is expected to be a two-door GT.

“Lamborghini’s electrification plan is a newly-plotted course, necessary in the context of a radically changing world, where we want to make our contribution by continuing to reduce environmental impact through concrete projects. Our response is a plan with a 360-degree approach, encompassing our products and our Sant’Agata Bolognese location, taking us towards a more sustainable future while always remaining faithful to our DNA.” stated Automobili Lamborghini president and chief executive officer, Stephan Winkelmann.
In an effort to decarbonise future Lamborghini models, the brand announced the “Direzione Cor Tauri” (Towards Cor Tauri) which will be broken down into three phases: Celebration of the internal combustion engine for 2021 to 2022, followed by a hybrid transition which is expected to end by 2024. The final phase will be the reveal of the first fully electric Lamborghini, which is expected to happen by the second half of the decade as mentioned earlier.

“Lamborghini’s electrification plan is a change of course that was made necessary by a radically changed context, in which we want to give our contribution by continuing to reduce environmental impact with tangible projects.” Winkelmann added.
