Luxury and Exclusivity At Its Finest, The 2022 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class
Combining perfection and high-tech features of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class with exclusivity and prowess of the Maybach, the new 2022 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class offers luxury like no other.

It was recently announced by the company that orders for the grand luxury saloon have been opened and prices start from 164,565 EUR (RM 827,303). It will be offered in two guises, the S 580 4MATIC variant and the S 680 4MATIC.

Taking an overall glimpse, the most significant difference can be seen, is in its stance. It features a measurement of 180 mm longer compared to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, at which it makes up the length of the rear end.

Furthermore, for the interior, unlike with other previous Maybach models, the Executive seats and the Chauffeur Package have now been offered as a standard amenity.

On that note, the interior cabin has also been further complemented with exclusive details such as large areas of wood trim on the rear of the front seats and between the two rear passengers.

In efforts to define the Maybach S-Class’ luxury, the interior has been installed with active road noise compensation, which makes the already silent Mercedes-Maybach S-Class even quieter.

Elaborating on it, the active road noise compensation is a function of the ‘Burmester’ high-end 4D surround sound system that works akin to headphones with noise suppression, at which the system reduces unwanted low-frequency noises using counter-phased sound waves.

Moving on to the performance, the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class comes with a choice of two engine trims.
Under the hood of the first variant, the S 580 4MATIC is sporting a V8 petrol engine (M176) with integrated second-generation starter-alternator and 48-Volt onboard electrical system.
-full.jpg)
Said mill enables the first variant to produce an output of 503 hp (370 kW) of power at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 700 Nm at 2,000 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Giving it a top speed of 250 km/h and an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.
As for the second variant, the S 680 4MATIC harbours the familiar V12 (M279) petrol engine and for the first time it has been combined with the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
The V12 powertrain can produce 612 hp (450 kW) of maximum power at 5,250 rpm to 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 900 Nm at 2,000 rpm to 4,000 rpm. It can dash from a standstill to 100 km/h in under 4.5 seconds while hitting a top speed of 250 km/h.

Besides what comes a given upon purchase, other optional features have also been offered. They include an upgrade on the exclusive appearance of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class that can be enhanced by a two-tone paint finish with a fine dividing line costing at 14,875 EUR (RM 74,796).

Second, it offers electrically powered comfort doors for the rear occupants at a price of 1,606 EUR (RM 8,075). They open and close with no human effort even on gradients.

This function gets integrated into the control system MBUX and Blind Spot Assist, which ensures a high level of operating convenience and additional safety. Combining it with the MBUX Interior Assist, the closing action of the auto comfort doors can be started or stopped with a hand gesture.

Next, the drivetrain can also be upgraded to a rear-axle steering system at a cost of 1,547 EUR (RM 7,780). This will make the S-Class feel more manoeuvrable when driving in town.
Fourth is the revolutionary headlamp technology ‘DIGITAL LIGHT’. With a price of 2,249 EUR (RM 11,310), it allows completely new functions to the Maybach S-Class, for example, the projection of guidelines or warning symbols onto the road surface.

Apart from that, also being offered is the adaptive rear illumination that costs about 345 EUR (RM 1,735). It works where the brightness and colour temperature of the interior lighting can be adjusted in several stages.

Adding onto the list is the MBUX Interior Assist that comes with a price tag of 523 EUR (RM 2,630). It is in the rear and this function can detect rear-seat passengers and adjust the rear amenities to suit the occupants.

For instance, the head restraints that extend automatically and the intuitive hand gestures that can control the rear roller sun blind in the panoramic sliding sunroof. This function comes hand in hand with the MBUX Interior Assist in the front, which is priced at 642 EUR (RM 3,230).

Moreover, with the MBUX high-end Rear Seat Entertainment system that is priced at 2,558 EUR (RM 12,871), passengers in the rear can also access the full MBUX experience with direct access to vehicle functions.
Piling on the enjoyment, the system also supports movie and internet features, and comes with two fully integrated 11.6-inch high-resolution displays.
