Mitsubishi Motors Appoints Shinya Ikeda as New Chief Executive Officer
Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, named Shinya Ikeda as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Tomoyuki Shinnishi, who had been in the role since October 2016.-full.jpg)
He officially assumed office in Malaysia on 11 October 2021 after being a General Manager in Mitsubishi Corporation since 2019. Ikeda began his journey with Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan in 2008. He was first assigned to manage automotive business investment in Malaysia and subsequently served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and General Manager for new business development across various markets from March 2009 to May 2012.
“I am excited to join Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia’s team. The company has grown from strength to strength and has become one of the nation’s leading automotive brands. As announced in the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) Mid-Term Business Plan last year, MMC will continue to focus on the ASEAN market and particularly Malaysia as the country is one of the most important markets in the world to expand the Mitsubishi brand presence,” said Shinya Ikeda, CEO of MMM.
He also expressed his excitement to be back in Malaysia to work hand in hand with the team to contribute to the organisation's growth.
During Shinnishi’s tenure, the company introduced many models, including the new Triton and XPANDER seven-seater crossover. Under his leadership, the XPANDER became the No. 1 non-national MPV, and Mitsubishi Motors became the country’s top three non-national brands in Malaysia.
