The Offical Debut of Volkswagen Golf R-Line & GTi in 2022

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia Sdn Bhd has launched the all-new Volkswagen Golf with presented two variants: the 1.4 TSI R-Line and GTi. 

The event takes place at Sepang International Circuit, revealing its price starting from RM155,000 to RM211,698. 

Riding on its 17-inch alloy wheels, the R-Line is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine mated to an eight-speed auto transmission unit that produces 148hp and 250Nm of torque at 1,500rpm to 3,000rpm. 

Meanwhile, GTI rides on 18-inch alloy wheels running on the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine mated with a seven-speed wet-clutch DSG that produces 242hp and 370Nm of torque power. The fuel efficiency is rated at approximately 7l/100km. 

Golf GTi has it better as it is equipped with grille honeycomb pattern on its lower bumper, red GTi trims, full LED headlamps, and taillights. When it comes to design, R-Line appears to be modest and offers a leaner front grille and narrow LED headlights. 

Cabin wise, GTi is stitched in Vienna leather. Meanwhile, R-Line is adorned in Sardegna fabric, and Art Velours side bolsters with the R-Line logo stitched on the headrest. 

On top of that, it comes with a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit, a multifunction steering wheel with haptic-touch control alongside Discover Media infotainment system with navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay. Linked to its driving modes, 30 colours for its ambient lighting are also available exclusively for GTi. 

As for the safety features, the Golf R-Line comes with ESC, Post Collision Braking System, Electronic Differential Lock (XDS) and six airbags for post-collision protection.

On the other hand, the Golf GTi has the Driver’s Workspace and “Hello Volkswagen” as one of its Intelligent Voice Control systems. Now, GTi has two main modes named Smart Climate and Classic Climate, as well the 3-zone Climatronic air con which equipped with Air Care to keep a clean air. 

Available in five colours in total: Atlantic Blue, Deep Black, and Oryx White. There are two hues added - the matte Moonstone Grey and Metallic Kings Red for R-Line. 

Finally, in terms of pricing, the all-new Volkswagen Golf GTi is retailed at RM211,698. As for Golf R-Line, the price begins at RM155,000 to RM165,000. All figures mentioned are on the road with SST, before insurance.
