Meet The New Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure EV
Volvo Car Malaysia has unveiled the first locally assembled all-electric XC40 Recharge Pure Electric compact sports utility vehicle (SUV).
The electric vehicle (EV) will be locally assembled in Shah Alam for the domestic market and exported to the nearby ASEAN markets. This is also in line with the company's aim to accelerate its transformation towards electrification with a 75 percent contribution from its pure electric line-up by 2025.
"Volvo Car Malaysia is ready to implement Volvo's global plan for a fully electric line-up by 2030, starting with the launch of the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric. By mid-decade, we're aiming to reduce our overall CO2 lifecycle emissions per car by 40 percent. This means more than simply reducing tailpipe emissions - electrification is not enough. We must reduce CO2 emissions across our operations and supply chain," said its managing director Charles Frump at the unveiling event.

Based on the XC40 compact SUV, the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric runs on a full electric all-wheel-drive powertrain that offers a range of up to 418km on a single charge. The two electric motors can generate 408 hp and 660 Nm of torque, powering all four wheels.

Volvo Car Malaysia claims that it can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds with zero tailpipe emission. The twin battery can be charged to 80 percent in 33 minutes by using the fast charging DC charger up to 150 kW.

Some of the equipment includes a covered front grille, LED headlamps, LED taillamps, powered tailgate, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and Google's built-in infotainment system. Apart from the 413 litres boot space at the back, the front trunk also offers 31 litres of storage space.
The Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric will be available for viewing at all authorised dealers nationwide from April 4, 2022. Deliveries of the fully electric SUV will start at the end of April 2022. Prices of the all-new Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric will be announced on April 4, 2022, which customers may begin to book online on the same day.
