Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has announced the iconic IONIQ 5 is now open for bookings at all authorised showrooms with a booking fee of RM1000.

Starting from March 2 to March 6, 2022, a boxed-up teaser display of the IONIQ 5 will be at 1 Utama Shopping Centre’s Centre Court (Ground Floor) for customers to catch a glimpse of the electric SUV.

According to managing director, retail and distribution of Sime Darby Motors Malaysia, Jeffrey Gan said, Hyundai is expected to lead the electric vehicle market segment in Malaysia as more electric vehicles are expected to be rolled out over the next 3 years.

“Given how well received Hyundai-brand electric vehicles are here, we have lined up more electric models for our discerning customers,” he commented.

The IONIQ 5 is available with two battery pack options of either 58 kWh or 72.6 kWh. Customers may opt for one of the two electric motor layouts, either one with a rear motor only or one with both front and rear motors. The top speed is 185 km/h.

“It offers an innovative interior design with eco-friendly materials, strong performance mated with ultra-fast charging and a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function.

Coupled with advanced connectivity and driver assistance features, the IONIQ 5 offers drivers the ultimate in-car experience while ensuring safety.” stated by the managing director of HSDM, Mr Low Yuan Lung.

Equipped with Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), this model rides on 20-inch diameter rims which are the largest fitted to a Hyundai EV. The front fascia is designed with V-shape daytime running lights and offers automatic door handles on sides.
