Lexus Unveils The All-New RZ, The World's First Pure Battery EV
Lexus, a pioneer of hybrid technology in the luxury segment, is preparing to march into electric vehicle territory. It unveiled the RZ 450e, a battery-powered model designed from the ground up as an electric vehicle that will pave the way for other vehicles to follow.
Body dimensions; the RZ stretches 189 inches long, 74.6 inches wide, and 64.4 inches tall. Its weight hasn't been released yet.
Inside, you will see such features as;
Elegant minimalist design inspired by Japanese culture
Switches left in the cabin are grouped into two clusters on the steering wheel
14-inch touchscreen at the center stack
It is also equipped with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suit of electronic driving aids which includes;
A lane departure warning system
Adaptive cruise control
Remote-controlled parking
Radiant heaters
The pair of electric motors are powered by a 71.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack. The motor on the front axle produces 201 horsepower, while the one on the rear axle produces 107 horsepower. This configuration provides the RZ with all-wheel drive on the road.
Technology-wise, there are list of features such as;
DIRECT4 (It analyzes data like the speed of each wheel and the steering angle to control each motor's output.
In some cases, the RZ relies solely on the rear-mounted motor, while in others, the front-mounted motor propels the vehicle forward. Of course, nearly any torque split in between is also possible.
The 2023 Lexus RZ 450e will reach showrooms towards the end of 2022. Pricing information hasn't been announced yet.
