Showcasing A Quad-Motored Race-Ready EV, Ford Presents The Pro Electric SuperVan

A rumor was looming over the past week that the Blue Oval was concocting another SuperVan, well, it’s real. Presented at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed, the Ford Pro Electric SuperVan.
The fourth iteration, it is loosely based on the recently revealed production version of the Ford E-Transit Custom and an homage to the three previous 1971, 1984 and 1994 builds.

Although only based on the name and fundamentals of the silhouette, this time the new SuperVan is fully electrified with insane power that punches harder than Mike Tyson.
Outstandingly, while the production version van offers up to only 268 hp, the new one-off creation packs almost eight times that.

According to Ford, it has a monstrous output of 1,946 hp surging in its quad-motor e-powertrain and can dash from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2 seconds.
Transmitting through all four wheels, the power derives from a liquid-cooled 50 kWh low-mid-mounted battery, which juices up in just 45 minutes using a standard fast charger.

What’s more, the steroid infused SuperVan reinforces a unique and custom-built chassis, developed by Ford Performance and Stard, Austrian electric rally specialists.
Adopted is the standard E-Transit Custom floor pan, but topped by a steel space frame and a radically aerodynamic, Svelte lightweight bodywork.

Then, the steering, double wishbone suspension and regenerative brakes are all track-honed systems that ensure the SuperVan has all the necessities to accelerate, turn and stop safely.
Aside from getting traction and launch control systems, Ford has also equipped an F1-style pit-lane speed limiter and a new feature called tire cleaning mode.

Interestingly, the tire cleaning mode fully brakes one axle while spinning the other to help clean and warm the tires before performance runs, or to just do sick burnouts.
Road, track, drag, dirt and rally are the SuperVans main selectable drive modes, while an eco mode is the default selection.

For the latter, it automatically activates at low speeds, keeps the motors at ideal efficiency, turns the regenerative braking up to a maximum and cuts drive to the rear axle.
Conversely, to unleash its full quad-motor potential, needed is just a push of the button called e‑boost, which temporarily winds the power up to eleven.

Being superfast, the SuperVan also has the looks to back it up. Just like its engineering, the motorsport-derived elements fitted are all for the sake of enhancing downforce.
These include a very commanding front splitter, prominent side skirts, a GT3-esque rear diffuser and a purposefully massive spoiler.

Meanwhile, the standard van's panel sides provide a tapered cutaway design towards the rear for improved airflow.
As for the rear end, to remain super practical it still features the production van’s conventional load bay and the side sliding door for easy access.

Bearing a performance-based build, the cockpit is modest. It makes way for a more race-friendly environment, featuring a full-body roll cage and FIA-approved race seats.
Connectivity-wise, it gets Ford Sync technology with real-time data transmission and a large touchscreen taken from the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Ford says the Mach-E’s system eases the hassle of maneuvering the SuperVan up hillclimbs and around racetracks, allowing the driver to plot a route, find a charger, connect to WIFI and make calls.
That said, the Ford Pro Electric SuperVan showcased at the affair was driven by racer and EV expert Romain Dumas, who currently holds the record at The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

Ultimately, though not for an ultra-fast courier service, the build is to display Ford’s e-drivetrain performance of its first battery-powered van, the E-Transit Custom. Slated for sale in the UK.
