The First-Ever Full-Size All-Electric Pickup Truck In America, The All-New Ford F-150 Lightning

On April 26, the brand with the Blue Oval launched the all-new, fully electric Ford F-150 Lightning pickup truck.

The event was held at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan, which is also where the F-150 Lightning’s production takes place.

Marking a significant milestone in the country’s shift to electric vehicles, this is the first-ever full-size all-electric pickup to go on sale in America. 

Apart from being gas-free, the F-150 Lightning offers an elevated driving experience infused with Built Ford Tough principles.

It comes with the choice of either a Standard-Range Battery with 426 hp and 1,050 Nm of torque or an Extended-Range Battery with 563 hp and 1,050 Nm of torque. 

Each setup is paired to a standard four-wheel drive system, and has 4,536 kg max towing capacity and 907 kg max payload capacity.

Plus, its dual eMotor powertrain also features selectable drive modes to customize drive characteristics along with a projected 0 to 97 km/h time in the mid-4-second range.

A literal powerhouse, the Ford F-150 Lightning is built with class-exclusive features that can’t be found on any other competitor.

Transforming the truck into a mobile power station, its Pro Power Onboard feature offers 9.6 kW of maximum auxiliary power provided through 11 outlets.

Paired with the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro, the Ford Intelligent Backup Power feature can provide full home power for 3 days on a fully-charged battery and 10 days when saving power.

Not to forget, it also has an ingenious array of connected intelligent features with over-the-air software updates to help ensure the truck gets even better over time.

That said, the Ford F-Series pickup has been America’s best-selling truck for 45 consecutive years and is second only to the iPhone in revenue among all American consumer products.
