All-new 2022 Perodua Alza Launched! – 3 Variants, from RM 62,500
At long last, the all-new second-generation Perodua Alza has finally launched earlier today. The new and affordably priced 7-seat MPV from the national carmaker was launched in a glitzy ceremony held earlier today at the KL Convention Centre which also saw the attendance of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The new Alza’s range consists of three variants, those being the entry-level X, a mid-range H slotting above that, as well as a range-topping AV variant that sits as the flagship. In terms of pricing, things start from RM62,500 for the X, RM68,000 for the middling H, whereas the flagship AV commands RM75,500 (Peninsula Malaysia prices with SST excluding insurance costs).

Under the hood, all three variants share the same powertrain package comprised of a 1.5-litre four-cylinder DVVTi mill and Perodua’s latest D-CVT automatic transmission. The former develops respectable figures of 105 HP and 137 NM to power the front wheels via the latter.
Crucially, Perodua’s latest seven-seat MPV offers the best-in-class fuel economy rating if its claimed 22 km/litre Malaysian Driving Cycle (MDC) rating is anything to by. In other words, you can expect to cover lots of miles with every full fill-up of the new Alza’s 43-litre tank.

Sharing the same platform as the Daihatsu Xenia and Toyota Veloz (DNGA-B), the new second-gen Alza also benefits with a slightly wider and longer dimensions at 1730mm and 2765mm respectively. In terms of boot space, there’s up to 498 litres of cargo space available (with the third-row seats folded).
Noteworthy here too is the improved turning radius, which sees a decrease 0.2 metre from the last generation to just 5.0 metre in this latest iteration.

In terms of features, Perodua have endowed the new second-gen Alza with plenty. Standard across the range are things such as keyless entry and ignition, rear air-cond vents, armrests in the second row seats, as well as core safety features such as six-airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, VSC, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill-hold assist, Lane-Departure Warning (LDW and Prevention (LDP), and auto high-beam assist.

The list beefs up from the mid-range H variant onwards, which sees larger 16-inch alloy wheels (15-inch in the base X variant), 7-inch full-colour TFT multi-info display, selectable drive modes (Normal, ECO and Sport), larger 9-inch infotainment touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, front and rear parking sensors, as well as Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) added into the mix.

Finally, in the flagship AV variant, it benefits with the addition of rear disc brakes (instead of drum types seen in the X and H), plus an electronic parking brake suite. Elsewhere, the flagship variant also get semi-leather seat covers to boot, along with a sleuth of high-tech advanced driver assistances that includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop,Hold/Start abilities, Lane-Keep Control (LKC), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), forward DVR or ‘dashcam’, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), and a 360-degree parking monitor.

In terms of colour choices, the new second gen Perodua Alza can be dressed in five hues – silver, white, plus a new shade black available for all, followed by a red and a new brown choices for the H and AV variants.

So, there you have it. What do you folks think of Perodua’s second generation 7-seat MPV? As always, let us know in the comment section below…
