With Deepavali fast approaching come Monday coupled with the long school holidays from 22st October (Saturday) till 26th October (Wednesday), PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) expects a huge surge in traffic volume

Datuk Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi, PLUS Chief Operating Officer said, "We expect as much as 1.9 million vehicles to use our highway networks every day during this Deepavali holiday starting on October 21 later evening. This is as compared to the usual 1.7 million vehicles a day on normal days. As such, PLUS released the Travel Time Advisory (TTA) schedule to help people plan their journeys as well as help us distribute traffic moving in various destinations. This TTA schedule can also be referred to on PLUS website www.plus.com.my as well as PLUS social media channels."

In view of this, PLUS will take this opportunity to activate the “Smartlane” initial testing phase for feasibility studies purposes. The Smartlane activation would involve opening of the emergency lanes at certain identified stretches to cope with extra traffic volume and ease congestion. Listed below are the Smartlane locations nationwide;

Smartlane PLUS Southern Region depending on the current traffic conditions in the following locations:

  • 1) Route between North Senai Junction to Kulai Junction (Northern Direction) KM19.0 to KM27.0 on 21 – 22 October 2022 (from 10.00 am to 06.00 pm).

  • 2) Route between North Port Dickson Junction to Seremban Junction (Northern Direction) KM260 to KM263.1 on 22 – 24 October 2022 (from 12.00 noon to 10.00 pm).

Smartlane PLUS Wilayah Tengah depending on the current traffic conditions in the following locations:

  • 1) Route between Tapah to Gopeng Route (Northern Direction), KM306.7 – KM297.0 on 21 & 22 October 2022 (from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm).

  • 2) Slim River to Sungkai Route (Northern Direction), KM366.8– KM354.0 on 21 & 22 October 2022 (from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm).

Smartlane PLUS Wilayah Utara depending on the current traffic conditions in the following locations:

  • 1) Route between Bukit Tambun Route - Juru Toll Plaza, (Northern Direction) KM150.6 - KM146.2 on 21 October 2022 (from 3:00 - 6:00 pm).

  • 2) Route on the Sungai Petani Route (South) to the Tikam Batu Side Stop (Southern Direction), KM107.6 - KM113.0 on October 26, 2022 (from 2:00 - 6:00 pm).

PLUS officials expect that the Smartlane trials coupled with the TTA would help smoothen the traffic flow throughout this Deepavali and school holiday. Public are also advised to download the PLUS App to plan their journey and to catch-up on the latest traffic information.
