Introducing the Volvo EX90, a top-of-the-line new electric vehicle which is based on the enormously successful Volvo XC90 SUV that has been previewed by Swedish automaker ahead of its complete global unveiling soon on November 9.
Scheduled to be on sale next year, Volvo's new flagship will be the first to ride on its new SPA2 platform. The electric SUV will be offered alongside a significantly updated version of the current XC90 and equipped with advanced safety features that were never previously seen on a production car.

Moving to the highlights, the interior of EX90 has been leaked in several official photos which display a new centre touchscreen that gives the driver access to clear facts and information. More than that, a smaller screen located behind the steering wheel in the EX90 shows driver-focused information such as speed, range, and specific navigational instructions.
On top of that, the firm has set an objective to sell 600,000 pure-electric vehicles annually starting in 2025, as the company aims to become a fully electric car manufacturer by 2030 which the target includes having EX90 to steer the plan. At this moment, models like Volvo XC40 Recharge and coupé-backed Volvo C40 Recharge are the company's current pure EV models which both sit a segment lower built on the similar CMA platform that uses conventional fuel.
One of the unique elements integrated into EX90 sees four free-standing seats which complete the futuristic touch including the skateboard-inspired construction offers interior flexibility and openness, evoking a Scandinavian living room feeling.

To do this, the production car will do away with physical controls in favour of a more streamlined and user-friendly driving interface. Most of the features will be managed by a large-format central touchscreen running Google's operating system, which was first used by the XC40 Recharge and Polestar 2.
Also, the Concept Recharge gives a strong hint as to how Volvo will make sure its future flagship EV maintains the essential qualities of the XC90 while introducing a whole different approach to outward and interior design. Through the 'less is more' philosophy displayed by the idea, which suggests an increased focus on minimalistic design in Volvo's new electric era will continue to emphasise space and utility.
Modern and advanced safety aspects will support the new EX90. The technology is installed as standard equipment and serves as a preview of what will be offered for other upcoming Volvo models. This simply means it has a protective shield both inside and outside the vehicle that uses radar and cameras to assist the driver when they are either tired, distracted, or attempt a manoeuvre just a millisecond too late.
Apart from having a lidar system that scans the area, the vehicle could react without the driver's input by slowing down or manoeuvring slightly to avoid obstacles or dangers. These new capabilities, when combined with cameras that monitor the driver's wellbeing and concentration levels, can cut the risk of fatalities or major injuries by up to 20%.
