20 Dedicated Lanes At CIQ To Be Open For Smoother Traffic Into Malaysia For GE15
![]()
With over 200,000 Malaysian voters working and residing in Singapore potentially heading back this 19th October to fulfil their duty by voting on the 15th General Election (GE15), some 20 car lanes would be made operational at the Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine Complex (CIQ) Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI).
This statement was made to The STAR by Johor state works, transportation and infrastructure committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh who added that the 20 lanes would be opened to Malaysian registered vehicles from 18th November noon until 19th November noon.
Mohamad Fazli goes on to add that these 20 lanes are exclusively prepared by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to expedite the flow of Malaysian vehicles entering back into Malaysia which accounts for two out of the three zones available at BSI.

On the other hand, Johor Pakatan chairman Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub and his deputies Aminolhuda Hassan, Syed Ibrahim Noh and Liew Chin Tong is urging the EC to play a more proactive role by setting-up dedicated voting centre at the High Commission of Malaysia in Singapore in order to make the voting process easier for those who are working in the island country.
They go on to add that the Johor state Police and Immigration Department should also be better prepared and ensure that there is sufficient manpower at the BSI CIQ during this period.
To this Mohamad Fazli has reassured that all Immigration personnel are on deck as all their leave has been frozen to ensure a smooth voters crossing this GE15.
