2023 BMW M2 Lands in Malaysia – 454 HP, Pro Package Variant, From RM599K

BMW Malaysia has officially launched the all-new second-gen BMW M2, with online pre-booking now commence. The new M2 lands in Malaysia with two different variants, namely the standard and the Pro Package option, with price starting from RM598,800 onwards.

Originally made its debut during BMW M’s 50th anniversary in Oct 2022, the second-gen M2 harnesses a 3.0-litre straight-six M TwinPower Turbo mill under its hood, which delivers about 454 HP and 550 NM. Unlike its overseas twins, the Malaysian-spec M2 won’t be getting the six-speed manual option, as said high-revving engine BMW M is mated with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic gearbox instead.
This powertrain setup works in tandem to send its powers to the rear wheel via Active M Differential, thus launching the M2 from nought to 100 KM/h in just 4.1 seconds, while enroute to its V-max of 250 KM/H. Should you think that top speed is a tad bit ‘tame’ for your liking, then opting for the M Driver’s Package add-on will boost your M2’s top speed up to 285 KM/H.

Aside from the Active M Differential, the new M2 also comes with a slew of other M performance parts, including the adaptive M suspension, M-specific bracings, as well as six-piston M brake callipers, finished in blue. All of those parts work together with the vehicle’s Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and M Traction Control system, all controlled via the M Drive Professional system, which grants drivers a variety of driving modes to select.

In terms of design, the new M2 boasts a rather contrasting look, all wrapped in a compact M2 package that measures 4,580 MM long and 1,887 MM wide – about 119 MM longer and 16 MM wider compared to the model it replaces. The front fascia is dominated by BMW’s signature kidney grille, albeit way bigger this time. Said grille is flanked by a pair of Adaptive LED headlights with a rounder and more compact design.

At the rear part, the new M2 dons the M’s signature quad tailpipes, powered by an M exhaust system with switchable setups that grants drivers control over the level of its pops and crackles. The new rear bumper and flared-out rear wheel arches give the car a very wide and muscular stance, while the standard M2 badging lets people know that you’re driving a proper M car.

The standard M2 rides on a set of M light alloy wheels finished in two-tone 930 Bicolour hue, sized 19-inch for the front, 20-inch for the rear.

Inside the new M2’s cabin lies a sporty-looking BMW Live Cockpit Professional that blends both luxury and performance aesthetics very well. Dominating the front dash is the new BMW Curved Display cluster comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a bigger 14.9-inch infotainment display, all with M specific displays and also housing the latest-gen BMW M iDrive.
Said infotainment system is powered by the latest BMW OS8, which comes standard with mobile connectivities like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Remote Software Upgrade that ensures the M2 to run the latest software all the time. Other connectivity features available are the Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices, ConnectedDrive Services, Smartphone Integration and many more.

Drivers and passengers will get a fully-electric M Sport seat each as standard, with bucket-like side bolster, as well as illuminated M logo embossed on the headrest. Other standard M parts featured in the cabin are the M sporty leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, M Anthracite headliner, Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite M Interior Trim, as well as the M mode buttons at the central console.

Opting for the Pro Package variant will see the M2 cabin being granted additional amenities and design features, like the M Seat Belts, Carbon Fibre M Interior Trim, as well as the Harman Kardon sound system.

The M2 Pro Package also comes with exterior and performance upgrades. On the performance front, the M2 Pro Package comes with a high-performance M Compound Brake with its callipers finished in high-gloss Red. For the exterior, the Pro Package grants the M2 with M Carbon Roof and M Lights Shadowline finishing for some exterior trims, as well as the 19 and 20-inch double-spoke M light alloy wheels, finished in 930 M black hue.
In spite of being a performance-oriented vehicle, the new M2 sports a plethora of advanced drivers assistance systems (ADAS), including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Warning, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Park Assist features ,and more.

The new M2 is bestowed with five colourways, starting with Zandvoort Blue, Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey, Black Sapphire, and Toronto Red. Customers can also opt for three different finishes for the interior upholstery, ranging from Black Leather Vernasca with exclusive highlight, Black Leather Vernasca with Blue contrast stitching, and Cognac Leather Vernasca with decor stitching.

The 2023 BMW M2 is primed for a price tag starting at RM598,800 for the standard model, while the Pro Package model is priced at RM642,800. Both prices are inclusive of BMW’s Extended 5-year Warranty and Service Package to boot. Online pre-booking for the new M2 is now open via BMW Malaysia’s shop site.
