Batang Kali - Genting Route Reopens On 6 Jan 2023 For Selected Vehicles Under Strict Conditions

The Malaysian Road Works Department (JKR) announced via its social media yesterday that the earlier closed Jalan Negeri B66 Batang Kali - Genting Highlands Seksyen 14.0 route would be reopened to the public beginning today (6 Jan 2023) 5PM.
This route was completely shut off to the public following the fatal landslide incident on 16 December which claimed the lives of 30 holiday goers at the Father’s Organic Farm camping site.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari has earlier promised on 25 Dec 2022 to expedite the road opening before the end of Jan 2023.
However it is to note that this opening is just for a temporary route where only one (1) lane would be accessible with a few key conditions. The reason for this expedited temporary road opening is mainly for the usage of Genting Highlands employees, hence to be able to travel on it a employers letter would be required.
Secondly, vehicles permitted to use the route are Class 1 vehicles (car, taxi and MPV) and Class 6 vehicles (motorcycle and scooter). The final condition is that road users are not permitted to stop on the route where the landslide had occurred.

Users are also advised to be careful when navigating this route and adhere to all road signs as road repair works are still underway. JKR however advises all road users if and when possible to use the alternative route which is much safer. The alternative routes are Jalan Negeri B23 Laluan Ulu Yam - Batu Caves and Jalan Persekutuan FT001, Laluan Kuala Lumpur - Ipoh.
