According to Anthony Loke, plans for the digitalization of vocational driving licences are in the works. Loke stated that, for the time being, all vocational candidates will be required to have a physical licence, but the ministry will work with industry players to make it easier for candidates to obtain their licences. "We intend to work with ehailing service providers to explore the possibility of delivering the licence to riders without requiring them to personally collect them from Road Transport Department (JPJ) counters," he said. After Loke announced the removal of the requirement on April 10, the first batch of 300 PSV candidates received their licences without having to take a theory test.

The exemption, according to Loke, has significantly reduced the time required to obtain a vocational licence while also reducing the ministry's backlog of candidates. "The average time to obtain a licence has been reduced from three months to just over a week."
