MyEG Gets Three-Year Contract Extension To Handle JPJ-Related Services
Putrajaya has granted MyEG Services Bhd a "non-exclusive" three-year extension for the e-government services it provides to the JPJ.
Loke Siew Fook, the Transport Minister, stated that the company was "made very clear" that the non-exclusive contract meant that MyEG would only be one of the platforms providing JPJ's online services.
“So if there are other e-government service providers who want to provide their services to the government, we can consider them.
"We're allowing (MyEG) to be a gateway for the government, as one of the options for the public to renew their licence or road tax, and so forth," he said at a press conference.
The transport ministry had granted MyEG a three-year extension in 2020, with the contract set to expire on May 22 this year.
The company had signed a concession agreement with Putrajaya for electronic delivery of driver and vehicle registrations, as well as licencing and summons services.
In February, the company's market capitalisation was reduced by RM2.17 billion as a result of two announcements, one by Loke and the other by the immigration department.
Loke announced that private vehicle owners would no longer be required to display road tax stickers on their vehicles or carry a physical copy of their driving licence, while Khairul Dzaimee Daud, the then-director-general of immigration, announced that all immigration services would be fully returned to government management by 2025.
