2023MY Renault Zoe E-Tech EV hatch arrives in base R110 and up-specced R135 variants.

Malaysian Renault franchise holders TC Euro Cars (TCEC) has updated its local electric line up today as it announces the availability of the refreshed 2023 Renault Zoe E-Tech EV hatch. Like before, this French EV hatch comes in two variants (R110 and R135), both now sporting a host of improvements all around too.

According to TCEC, the Zoe E-Tech now packs Renault’s latest 52 kWh battery pack, thus enabling its motor to deliver higher outputs of 110 PS and 225 NM in the base R110 variant, whereas the up-specced R135 trim sees 135 PS and 245 NM instead.

Drive goes to the front wheels via a single-ratio transmission in both the R110 and R135, with 0-100 KM/H times stands at 11.4 seconds and 9.5 seconds respectively. Performance aside, Renault is also claiming improved WLTP ranges of 395 KM (R110) and 386 KM (R135) in this updated 2023MY version.

The 52 kWh battery boasts class-leading recharge time of just 3 hours using Type 2 AC input up to 22 kW.

Improvements were made with charging too as the refreshed Zoe boasting a class-leading full-recharge (0-100%) time of just three hours with Type 2 AC charging at a rate of 22 kW. Additionally, DC rapid-charging up to 50 kW is also acceptable, which grants 10-80% charges in just 70 minutes.

Other powertrain improvement include a newly added B mode in the transmission. This bolsters the Zoe’s regenerative braking efficiency whilst also making it easier to drive through city and congested traffic. Adding to which is the array of basic active driver assists present like lane-departure warning (LDW), blind-spot warning (BSW), adaptive high beam assist (AHB), and hands-free park assist.

On board, changes brought forth by the new 2023MY guise includes a redesigned 10-inch driver instrument display. This interactive and customisable display contains the main driving aids and all settings specific to electric driving such as the eco-meter. The panel also displays GPS indications on the Zoe R135, which comes standard-equipped with offline navigation function.

Exterior refreshes include a new and more sculpted front fascia with new vents. Other notable changes include the switch to all-LED lighting and new 16-inch alloy wheels design.

Unchanged is the 9.3-inch Renault Easy Link central infotainment screen that’s paired with a six-speaker setup and offers both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. There’s also two USB ports present here plus another pair in the rear (Zoe R135). Other key features primed include power-folding mirrors (Zoe R135), full-LED cabin lighting, automatic climate control, and a new ergonomic control panel.

Other changes in the cabin include the use of new recycled fabric upholstery in black, redesigned dash  now trimmed with higher-end materials and sporting more useful compartments, as well as repositioned cruise control buttons that are now placed behind the steering wheel.

Plans for both outright purchases and subscriptions are now available, the latter from as low as RM2,799 monthly.

Available for purchase now, the refreshed 2023 Renault Zoe E-Tech commands a base price of RM165,000 in base R110 form, and from RM179,000 in the higher-specced R135 trimline. Said prices include a 3-year or 100,000 KM vehicle and powertrain warranty plus a separate 8-yeae or 160,000 KM EV battery warranty (with minimum capacity of 70%).

Those keen on a subscription plan instead will be glad to know that there are three plans available, with terms lasting up to 1, 2 or 3 years priced from as low as RM2,799 monthly for the R110 variant, and from RM2,999 for the higher-spec R135.
