2023 Isuzu D-Max 1.9L Standard Updated – More Tech, Same Engine, From RM105K

2023 Isuzu D-Max 1.9L Standard
Isuzu Malaysia has officially updated the Isuzu D-Max 1.9L Standard variant for the 2023 model year update. This update sees the baseline D-Max getting new tech bits and safety equipment, alongside a minor price hike.

The updated D-Max Standard gets colour-matching door and tailgate handles
For 2023, the D-Max 1.9L Standard gets very minimal exterior styling tweaks that includes body colour-matching door and tailgate handles, as well as the two-tone front grille finish instead of the silver ones on the pre-update model. Speaking of colour, the D-Max Standard is offered with five exterior hue options, including Valencia Orange, Biarritz Blue, Splash White, Mercury Silver and Onyx Black.
Elsewhere, the updated D-Max Standard remains pretty much the same as before, featuring 17-inch alloy wheels, combination taillights, halogen fog lamps, as well as LED projector headlights, with the latter only offered for the automatic variant. The manual version, on the other hand, still retains the halogen headlamps.

The D-Max Standard now gets reverse camera system, alongside other new tech equipment
This mild update is more prominent once we get inside the D-Max standard, as the cabin now gets a slew of new tech and safety equipment. Highlights include the reverse camera, new 7-inch infotainment display with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, six-speaker sound system, as well as multiple USB-C and USB-A charging ports. Said head unit, however, still lacks Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
More importantly, the addition of the reverse camera system to the Standard variant means that all variants of the double-cab D-Max now come standard with them.
Apart from that, the Standard variant remains pretty much the same as the pre-update version, featuring fabric upholstery for the seats, 4.2-inch e-Lumax analogue driver’s display, manual climate control and manual seat adjustment.

As for the powertrain, the 2023 D-Max Standard still retains the same 1.9-litre 4-cyl turbodiesel mill that delivers 150 HP and 350 NM to boot. Depending on the variant, said mill is mated to a six-speed automatic or manual gearbox, which facilitates power delivery to Isuzu’s proprietary Terrain Command shift-on-the-fly 4x4 system. The only mechanical update the Standard model gets is the inclusion of a new electronic locking differential on the rear axle.
The 2023 Isuzu D-Max 1.9L Standard is now available for booking, with its prices starting from RM105,599 on-the-road sans insurance for the six-speed manual variant, while the automatic version commands a higher price tag of RM112,999. Said prices are accompanied by a five-year or 150,000 KM vehicle warranty provided by Isuzu Malaysia.
