The New BMW CE 02 Is A Stylish e-Scooter with Only 90 KM Range

2023 BMW CE 02 e-Scooter
BMW Motorrad is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Aside from launching heritage variants of their current models, the automaker has debuted its latest all-electric model, cordially named BMW CE 02. Mind you, BMW doesn’t want you to call it an e-scooter (which we did, anyway), as they insist on labelling the CE 02 as an eParkourer instead.
BMW CE 02 (right) looks pretty small compared to the CE 04 (left)
Nomenclature debates aside, the CE 02 is definitely a way cooler-looking bike compared to its (literally) bigger sibling, the BMW CE 04. Designed for urban crawlers in mind, the CE 02 harnesses a single electric motor rated at 15 HP that is juiced by a small 3.92-kWh battery pack. This EV setup grants the 132 KG-weight CE 02 with a maximum EV range of only 90 KM (WMTC), and a ‘whopping’ top speed of 95 KM/H.
In Europe, the CE 02 also comes with a less-powered variant catered especially to younger riders or those who only have a car driving licence. This down-tuned ‘eParkourer’ sports a much less peppy electric motor rated at 4 HP that can only reach 45 KM/H, while its EV range is capped to 45 KM.

As for charging, the standard CE 02 variant takes about five hours and 12 minutes to charge up from 0% to 100% via the wall socket at 0.9 kW rate. There’s also an optional 1.5 kW quick charger that’ll reach the same state-of-charge in just three-and-a-half hours.

Visually, the CE 02 stands as a more stylish, ‘youngster-friendly’ bike compared to its bulky CE 04 sibling. Featuring a scrambler-inspired design, the CE 02 sports a double-loop frame chassis made of tubular steel, telescopic hydraulic front forks at the front and single swing arm at the rear – both blend well with its wide tyres that are wrapped around its enclosed, steelie-style cast alloy wheels. Speaking of brakes, both front and rear ones are discs, with only the former coming with ABS. As for the ride height, the CE 02’s seat is quite low, measuring at only 750 MM from the ground.

Just like the CE 04, the CE 02 features a 3.5-inch TFT rider’s display that projects essential riding features, including the selectable riding modes offered. The ‘Flow’ riding mode is catered for cruising around the traffic or urban areas, while the ‘Surf’ is used for open roads or highways. Opting for the Highline trim unlocks an extra ‘Flash’ riding mode, which is essentially a fancier way to name the ‘Sport’ mode.

Aside from the extra riding mode, the Highline trim also bestows the CE 02 with gold-hued front forks, exclusive graphics for its fairings, as well as a USB-C socket situated beside the digital display. Other tech highlights of the CE 02 include the BMW Motorrad Connected Services, keyless ignition, LED headlights and turn signals with DRLs, anti-theft alarm system, and many more.

The CE 02 is the latest all-electric model to join BMW Group's EV family
The BMW CE 02 is now open for bookings in selected markets, including the Europe and North America markets. For the latter market, the CE 02 starts at $7,599 (RM35,464) plus destination fees.
So folks, what do you think of BMW Motorrad’s latest EV model? Would you be keen to see BMW Motorrad Malaysia bringing this e-Scooter into our local market to go alongside with the newly-debuted CE 04? As always, leave your thoughts in the comments down below…
