Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV Gets New Lite & Plus Variants – From RM219K

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV fastback saloon gets two new variants, Lite and Plus
Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has expanded its electric vehicle lineup today, as the marque updates the range for its flagship EV saloon model, the Hyundai Ioniq 6. Months after making its local debut, the Ioniq 6 now gets two new variants – Lite and Plus – on top of the two existing Max RWD and Max AWD ones.
Both the Ioniq 6 Lite and Plus employ the same single rear-mounted-and-driven (RWD) motor setup as the Max RWD variant, albeit with a slightly lower state-of-tune. Now producing 149 HP (111 kW) and 350 NM, the Ioniq 6 Lite and Plus can propel from nought to 100 KM/H in 8.8 seconds – about 1.4 second slower than the Max RWD’s 7.4 seconds century sprint time.

Aside from sheer charging performance, the Ioniq 6 also comes with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality
Juicing both variants are a smaller 53-kWh battery pack with an 800-volt battery architecture, granting both the Lite and Plus with a maximum EV range of 429 KM, according to the stringent WLTP cycle. Similar to other up-specced Ioniq 6 variants, the Lite and Plus still get the same 350 kW DC fast charging rate, allowing it to be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes – making it one of the fastest-charging EVs in the world.

In terms of design, both the Ioniq 6 Lite and Plus doesn’t look that different from its upper-level siblings, with both of them riding on the same 18-inch alloy Aero wheels as the Max RWD variant. Aside from that, all variants of the Ioniq 6 still get the same sporty fastback-style roofline with low drag coefficient rate of 0.21, as well as the Ioniq’s signature Pixel Light segments for both the front and rear lights.

Five exterior colourways are available for both the Ioniq 6 Lite and Plus
Similar to both the Max RWD and Max AWD variants, the Ioniq 6 Lite and Plus will be offered with five exterior colourways – Abyss Black Pearl, Nocturne Grey Matte, Biophilic Blue Pearl, Dive Blue Solid and Gravity Gold Matte.

The differences between the Lite and Plus variants are only apparent once we get on board the car, as the baseline Lite variant gets fabric upholstery for its seats, instead of the leather ones used on other variants of the Ioniq 6. Aside from that, the baseline spec also omits the automatic door function and power adjustments for the seats, while both new variants didn’t get the head-up display (HUD).

Key tech bits are still offered in the two base specs, same as the two Max variants
Fortunately, both the new variants still get the same tech bits as the Max variants like the 12.3-inch dual-screen layout with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone auto climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting system, multiple USB-C ports, wireless charging pad and many more. However, the base Lite spec didn’t get the same 8-speaker Bose sound system like the rest, opting for the 6-speaker ones instead.

Safety-wise, both the Lite and Plus variants get ample safety equipment and ADAS features. Both variants get basic active safety functions like Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Forward Collision Avoidance Assistance (FCA), Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop and Go, as well as Manual Speed Limit Assist (MSLA). However, the mid-spec Plus variant gets additional ADAS functions such as Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) and Surround View Monitor (SVM) – on-par with the two Max variants.

Fully-imported (CBU) from South Korea, the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 Lite and Plus variant start at RM219,888 for the baseline Lite RWD, while the Plus RWD variant commands a higher price tag of RM249,888, with deliveries set to commence later in Q4 this year. This addition completes the whole Ioniq 6 lineup, with the existing Max RWD and Max AWD variants priced RM289,888 and RM319,888 respectively.
As standard, all prices stated above are inclusive of an 8-year or 160,000 KM battery warranty, while customers can opt for a longer 5-year or 100,000 KM vehicle warranty plus a complimentary 3-year or 50,000 KM free service warranty, for an extra RM10,000. Bookings for the new Ioniq 6 can be made via HSDM’s official Cl!cktoBuy retail platform, where the first 30 bookings will stand a chance to win a free one-year Shell Recharge Gold membership.
