JPJ Refutes Viral News, Digital Vehicle License Is Recognised & Sufficient
-full_normal.jpg)
The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) has responded to a viral Facebook post that contained inaccurate and misleading information about the digitalization of Vehicle Licences (LKM). JPJ wishes to clarify that the statements in the post are incorrect and may mislead the public. As a result, a police report was filed to begin an inquiry into the account owner in order to avoid the dissemination of false information in the future.
According to a press release issued by the Minister of Transport on February 10, 2023, JPJ is now in the transitional phase of digitising Vehicle Licences (LKM) and Malaysia Driving Licences (LMM).

Vehicle owners and drivers are encouraged to shift from physical documents to digital ones if they are ready. However, during this interim period, vehicle owners and drivers still have the option to use either digital versions of LKM or LMM or continue using physical documents.
Therefore, individuals who opt for digital documents need not be concerned about being stopped by law enforcement agencies for inspections. All relevant law enforcement agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), have been duly informed of this arrangement.

JPJ strongly advises the public against creating or sharing misleading social media posts. We also encourage the public to verify information for accuracy and authenticity through the official portal or social media channels of the Road Transport Department of Malaysia.
