Chery Omoda E5 EV presented to the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Abdul Aziz by Chery Automobile chairman Mr. Yin Tong Yue
Chery Malaysia has presented the upcoming Chery Omoda E5 EV to the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Abdul Aziz. This momentous event was unfolded during the visit of Chery Automobile chairman Mr. Yin Tong Yue to Malaysia, accompanied by other delegates from China consisting of Chery’s top management representatives.

In an exclusive ceremony held at MITI head office, the chairman of Chery Automobile personally presented the Omoda E5 to MITI Minister Tengku Zafrul, witnessed by both the Chery Automobile’s delegates and top-rank officials at MITI. This all-electric SUV crossover is set to play a vital role in rejuvenating Chery’s presence in the Malaysian market, being the first all-electric model to be launched by the Chinese marque here.

This handover of the Omoda E5 to the MITI Minister was part of Chery Automobile’s official visit to Malaysia in search for new opportunities for the development of the Chery brand in our local market. Accompanying Chairman Yin Tong Yue during this visit are the president of Chery International Mr. Zhang Gui Bing, Chery International VP Mr. Chen Chun Qing, and many more top-rank management representatives.
To gain a clearer understanding of Malaysia's new automotive policies and trends, the senior executives held discussions with Malaysian automotive market players, Chery dealers investors, and other key industry representatives during the visit. All parties exchanged views on the progress of important projects in Malaysia for the group. They also delved into topics such as the development strategy of Chery Malaysia, and the layout of new energy vehicles.
“Malaysia is a crucial part of Chery's global strategy. The CKD factory invested by the group will not only cover the local Malaysian market but will also radiate throughout the entire Southeast Asian region, becoming a stronghold for new forces to enter Southeast Asia in the future,” said Chairman Yin Tong Yue.

The Chery Omoda 5 SUV is one of Chery's best-selling models in the export markets
The export markets have always been Chery’s biggest priority since its inception, with the latest data recorded back in Oct this year showing that the Chery Omoda’s cumulative export volume had exceeded 130,000 units. This success is credited to Omoda’s stellar performance in both our local market and ASEAN regional markets.
