Proton S70 Specs Leaked: 4 Variants, X90-derived ADAS, And 7 Colours Available

It appears basic specifications of the upcoming Proton S70 have made their rounds on social media. ICYMI, the model is now open for bookings at just RM500.
It appears that the basic specifications of the upcoming Proton S70 sedan have made their rounds all over social media over the recent public holiday weekend. Plenty of details were revealed from which, and we’ve decided to take an in-depth look at it.
Whilst the leak skirts away from revealing any official mechanical stats and figures, we at least now know the total variant count and how each differs in specifications. Predictably, these features and amenities, as well as selected paintjob options, will be variant specific.

This 'leaked' brochure shows that 4 variants will be available with varying degrees of equipment. It also details the availability of up to 7 paintjob options. (Source: Facebook)
Just like the X50, X70, and X90, the Proton S70 range starts with a base 1.5T Executive variant offered in either Snow White or Space Grey paintjobs. Key traits include 16-inch wheels and halogen lights for the exterior, as well as the interior’s adoption of fabric seat upholstery.
On board, this base-spec offering gets an 8-inch infotainment head unit, electronic parking brake, as well as 6 airbags – the last two features being shared across the range too. This entry-level variant also gets at least one active driver assist (ADAS) feature – Lane Change Assist.

Standard across the board are 6 airbags and an electronic parking brake. Larger 12.3-inch infotainment and 10-inch digital instrument displays pictured are exclusive traits of the two Flagship variants.
Positioned as the mid-range offering, the 1.5T Premium builds upon the Executive guise with several notable additions starting with leatherette seat upholstery and automatic climate control with rear vents. This variant also gains a reverse parking camera for added convenience.
As for its exterior, the 1.5T Premium is easily distinguished by its adoption of LED headlamps matched with rear taillight bar – presumably LED-powered too. This variant also sees no less than four paintjob options available – Snow Wite, Space Grey, Armour Silver, and Passion Red.

The sunroof (left) will be an exclusive feature of the Flagship X variant. Leatherette seat upholstery (right), along with automatic climate control are available from the Premium variant onwards.
Moving up to the two range-toppers, the 1.5T Flagship will be easily distinguished through its adoption of larger 17-inch alloy wheels, as well as the added Marina Blue and Teal Bayou Green paint options - thus seeing a total of 6 paintjob options available.
What separates the Flagship and Flagship X duo is the latter's inclusion of a sunroof and exclusive Quartz Black paintjob option. Whilst on paint options still, the Flagship X variant also skips on the Armour Silver and Passion Red options, bringing its total to just 5 hues.
On board, both Flagship variant’s gets a bevy of additions such as powered driver seat adjustment, larger 12.3-inch infotainment display, fully digital 10.3-inch instrument display, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), 360-degree and 3D parking camera, and a wireless charger.

LED headlights and taillight lightbar are present in the Premium variant on wards. 17-inch wheels, as well as the 'Teal Bayou Green' paint pictured, on the other hand, are exclusive traits of the two Flagship variants only.
Lastly, both the Flagship and Flagship X variants get a full swing of ADAS features derived from the larger X90 3-row crossover SUV. This alone sees the promise Level 2 semi-autonomous driving abilities specifically in these two Flagship guises of the S70.
Given what we’ve detailed, could this be an ideal alternative against C-segment staples like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Mazda 3? Or, depending on price, perhaps a better buy over B-segment choices like the Honda City, Toyota Vios, and Mazda 2?
As always, hit the comments below, as well as our social media pages, with your thoughts…
