Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has officiated the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) previously known as DUKE Phase 3 yesterday two days later than the initially announced launch date of 1st November, 2023.
This expedited highway opening comes after many road users expressed their hope that the SPE could be opened as soon as possible to help alleviate traffic congestion issues in several areas in Kuala Lumpur especially due to the closure of Jalan Sungai Besi, leading to Sg. Besi/Petaling Jaya (across from Fraser Business Park), and the Loke Yew Roundabout.

Nanta further added that the SPE project is In line with the MYJalan campaign's aspirations. The opening of this highway will undoubtedly provide relief to over 100,000 road users travelling to the north, east, west, and south of Kuala Lumpur especially during the peak-hour commute. SPE is expected to reduce traffic congestion issues by up to 30% where a journey that used to take more than 1 hour can now be shortened to just 35 minutes.
SPE would be a 29.8KM dual carriage expressway with four lanes connected by seven (7) intersections. The expressway would traverse north to south of Kuala Lumpur and will serve areas such as Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Wangsa Maju, Setiawangsa, Ampang, the Tun Razak Exchange & Bandar Malaysia development corridor and Kerinchi.

SPE would be accessible via the Chan Sow Lin Toll Plaza, Ampang Toll Plaza (from the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway, AKLEH, to the SPE), and Setiawangsa Toll Plaza (both South and Northbound).
