Chery Omoda E5 Registration Of Interest Now Open Online

Registration Of Interest (ROI) for the upcoming Chery Omoda E5 EV crossover is now open online.
You can now register your interest for the upcoming Chery Omoda E5 all-electric crossover online. Earlier today, Chery Malaysia had set up a special Registration Of Interest (ROI) portal for which via its official website.
Chery Malaysia didn’t disclose either a firm launch date or tentative price figures. However, even if the gap between combustion (ICE) models and their all-electric (EV) offshoots isn’t too wide, expect the Omoda E5 to command slightly higher price figures still over the regular Omoda 5.

Previewed locally late last month, the Chery Omoda E5 is set to launch within Q1 of 2024.
As a refresher, the combustion-powered Chery Omoda 5 launched back in July this year sees two variants available priced at RM108,800 and RM159,800. Initial sales for which, along with its larger Tiggo 8 Pro sibling, proved promising, and this upcoming EV version of the Omoda 5 should fare similarly.
First shown to local press in China back in Oct this year, a slightly different version of the Omoda E5 was finally brought in and previewed to local press once again late last month. Unlike the initial Chinese market version, the Malaysian-spec Omoda E5 gets slightly lower power but with slightly increased range.

Underneath, the Omoda E5 harnesses a BYD-sourced 61 kWh 'Blade' LFP battery pack that juices a front-mounted motor rated at 201 HP and 340 NM.
The Omoda E5 harnesses a BYD-sourced 61 kWh ‘Blade’ LFP battery pack mounted in the chassis floor that juices a front-mounted e-motor. The latter drives the front wheels with 201 HP and 340 NM, thus enabling 0-100 KM/H sprints in a respectable 7.6 seconds.
Said BYD-sourced battery accepts both regular 9.9 kW AC and up to 60 KW DC rapid-charging inputs, the latter method seeing 39-80% recharges attained in just 30 minutes. Based on CLTC test cycles, the Omoda E5 boasts a claimed maximum range of 450 KM with each full charge.

On board, the Omoda E5 mirrors its higher-specced ICE-powered twin in terms of features and luxuries. It also boasts the same slew of ADAS features than enable Level 2 semi-autonomous driving abilities.
Notable traits and features include a more distinct and EV-specific front fascia design plus 18-inch ‘enclosed spokes’ wheels, digital dual-displays measuring 12.3-inches each, faux leather upholstery with power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, and a host of other amenities.
Crucially, the Omoda E5 matches its higher-specced ICE twin in terms of safety as it features a full array of active driver assist (ADAS) features that enable Level 2 semi-autonomous driving abilities. In other words, the Omoda E5 looks set to rival strongly against the ever-popular and similarly-sized BYD Atto 3.
We’ll have more details for the Chery Omoda E5 that’s set to launch soon once they are announced. In the meantime, you can get to know the car better through our in-depth preview reports by clicking here and here.
