NAZAMAX Teams Up With P.UP To Offer EV Concierge Service

Through its partnership with P.UP Singapore, NAZAMAX is set to roll out the Power Up-branded mobile EV charging vehicles in the first quarter of 2024.

The Power Up mobile charging service would serve both as a concierge service to help vehicle owners charge up and detail their EVs, and as a rescue vehicle for EVs that are stranded.

NAZAMAX is targeting to deploy about 9 mobile charging vans/trucks by the end of Q1 2024 and is looking at having a fleet of 60-75 vehicles by the end of 2024.
The pricing structure and business operations details for Malaysia have not been announced. Based on how this service operates in Singapore, we could see an almost similar operating mechanism plus adoption into vehicle brand networks similar to Gentari and BMW’s partnership.

In Singapore, the mobile charging service is offered through subscription packages and pay-as-you-go use. There are three subscription tiers, Gold, Platinum, and Emerald. The latter two includes vehicle detailing.
As for the pay-as-you-go service, in Singapore it is standardised similar to DC Charging stations pricing of SDG0.65/kWh plus a SGD20 service fee.

S.M. Fauzi S.M. Shalahuddin, CEO of NAZAMAX, said the one key reason stopping EV mass adoption is worryness with regards to EV charging and infrastructure readiness.
Having a readily available mobile charging concierge service would ease this as they could sign-up as a member and get their vehicle charged and detailed as and when they like at their convenient location.
He further explained that it is also important to get SMEs and corporations to use EV by providing a clear charging solution that makes economic sense.

According to P.UP CEO, Chin Kee Min, P.UP as the first of its kind in this service sector has enabled EV adoption in Singapore, serving 10% of the EV market within the last 18-months. Although Singapore has a higher EV adoption rate than Malaysia plus a more matured EV Charging network, users prefer the convenience that P.UP offers.
He also added that by having such a service it would curb any issues of monopoly by major corporations and infrastructure providers.

Furthermore, staying true to its EV roots, all mobile charging vans/trucks would in the first place also be an EV - Opel e-Vivaro Electric Vans. As for Malaysia, NAZAMAX would be leasing the vans from a yet to be disclosed brand.
When questioned on its expansion plan, P.UP is now working on implementing mobile charging rescue that utilises solid state batteries on motorcycles. This however is still in the testing stages, but the firm is confident at delivering a 20% charge via motorcycle to any stranded EV.
Once this motorcycle-borne service is proven it would also be introduced here in Malaysia in the near future.
