Toyota Sport Crossover Concept Previews New Sporty EV for EU

New Toyota Sport Crossover concept previews future sporty EV set to arrive in Europe later in 2025.
Besides the sporty and compact Urban SUV concept, Toyota has also revealed another concept model for the European market. Known as the Toyota Sport Crossover concept, this sporty EV concept gives us a glimpse into an upcoming sporty EV SUV model by the Japanese marque, set to hit the European market later in the future.
First previewed as a Toyota bZ Sport Crossover concept back in Auto Shanghai earlier this year, this Sport Crossover concept revealed at Toyota’s EV event last week in Belgium looks similar to its Chinese counterpart, expect coming in a more subdued silver-grey hue and omitting the bZ prefix from its nameplate.

The Sport Crossover concept boasts several familiar design cues derived from newer Toyota models
Visually, both cars boast exactly the same styling, featuring some of Toyota’s new design cues and elements, including slim C-shaped headlight design. As its name suggests, this concept sports a very sleek coupe SUV crossover body style, with a striking ducktail rear end that also houses a full-width LED taillight unit, as well as a chiselled rear bumper design. From here, you’ll also notice that this concept bears Toyota’s new blue-dot emblem with a ‘BEV’ prefix next to it.

Though Toyota didn’t reveal the exact dimensions of the Sport Crossover concept EV, Autocar UK reported that the production version of this concept is set to go against other premium D-segment EV models like the Volkswagen ID.7 and Hyundai Ioniq 6, although those two models are low-slung saloons instead of tall-riding crossovers. Toyota did, however, promise that the Sport Crossover would boast ‘generous’ cargo and cabin space, despite its sporty and sleek facade.
Borne out of Toyota’s partnership with renowned Chinese new energy vehicle marque BYD, the Sport Crossover is set to become a ‘design icon’ for its new EV fleet in the European market, with said model set to be joined by no less than five new EVs, including the production version of the Urban SUV concept. As for now, neither Toyota nor BYD have revealed any details about this concept’s powertrain and battery setup, though we can expect to know about them as we get closer to its launch date.

The production version of the Sport Crossover concept is due for a European debut later in 2025
And close is quite a relative term to describe the Sport Crossover’s imminent launch date, with Toyota slating the production version of this sporty concept set to arrive later in 2025. As we mentioned earlier, both the Sport Crossover and Urban SUV concepts will be joined by several other upcoming EVs, which will bring a total of six BEV models to be launched by Toyota in Europe by 2026.
Currently, Toyota only has one BEV model on sale in the Old Continent’s market, which is the Toyota bZ4X EV SUV. While the Japanese marque is quite slow in introducing new BEV models for both the global and European markets, Toyota is quite rapid in expanding its electrified offerings for the latter market, with models like the second-gen C-HR and the new Prius both arriving with plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options, aside from many other series-parallel hybrid (HEV) models on sale there.
