2023MY BYD Atto 3 Gets RM20,000 Discount, Starts From RM129,800 Now

If you've been eying up the prospects of adopting the BYD Atto 3, this is perhaps the best time then...
BYD Cars Malaysia took to social media earlier today where it announced a rather huge discount for its massively popular Atto 3 EV SUV. Based on their recent Facebook post, the firm is now offering existing 2023 model year stocks of the Standard Range variant with a massive RM20,000 discount.
As a result, the Atto 3 Standard Range now starts from RM129,800 onwards. For perspective, this now sees said BYD EV crossover offering priced just RM4,000 more than the Extended Range variant of the BYD Dolphin EV hatch – supposedly BYD’s ‘entry point’ offering in its line-up.
No mention of a similar discount for the Atto 3 in Extended Range form was made via social media, but CariCarz.com has reached out directly to BYD Cars Malaysia to ascertain this. Unsurprisingly, the BYD Cars Malaysia spokesperson we got in touch with confirmed just that.
In other words, a similar RM20,000 discount is currently being offered on existing 2023MY stocks of the Atto 3 Extended Range, resulting in its more ‘accessible' RM147,800 starting price figure. As a refresher, said higher-specced variant commanded RM167,800 at launch.

Both the Standard and Extended Range variants (latter pictured) enjoy a huge RM20,000 discount from BYD Cars Malaysia. However, there's a catch...
Clearly, this is an effort by BYD Cars Malaysia to clear its existing inventory of overstocked units. However, given the popularity of the richly-kitted yet costlier Extended Range variant, overstocked units of the lower-end but still fairly respectable Standard Range variant might be in greater abundance.
As a refresher, both the Atto 3 Standard and Extended Range variants are set apart by their differing battery capacities and subsequent range figures plus maximum charging inputs – 49.92 kWh versus 60,48 kWh, 345 KM vs 420 KM (WLTP), and 70 kW vs 80 kW maximum DC charging input.
Different too are some of the features and amenities primed on board. Aptly, the Extended Range boasts arguably tastier 18-inch (17-inch in the Standard Range) alloy wheels, powered tailgate, multi-colour ambient lighting, wireless charging pad, plus an 8-speaker audio suite.

This massive discount is currently offered on existing 2023MY stocks, and for a limited time (whilst the former lasts).
Nevertheless, what’s shared instead are the 201 HP (150 kW) and 310 NM e-motor setup, full-LED lighting, powered front seats, rotating 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment, panoramic glass roof and, crucially, Level 2 semi-autonomous driving abilities.
So, what do you reckon folks? Has this discount swayed you away from the new Chery Omoda E5 that just launched earlier this week? Perhaps away from the recently previewed MG ZS EV too? Share your take in the comments below, as well as our social media pages…
