Previewed: Chery Tiggo 7 Pro – Launches In May, Sub-RM130,000 Est.

Chery Malaysia showcased the upcoming Chery Tiggo 7 Pro model earlier today. This C-segment SUV offering is set to launch in May this year.
Chery Malaysia previewed its second new model earlier today in at KL Wellness City in Bukit Jalil. Set for launch towards the end of May this year is the new Chery Tiggo 7 Pro C-segment crossover SUV and, as detailed prior, this is yet another Chinese fighter that’s specced – and priced – to sell.
Earlier this year, Chery Malaysia confirmed it will launch no less than three models for the Malaysian market this year. The first of which came earlier this month, which was the Omoda E5. Said model also doubled as the brand’s first ever all-electric (EV) offering.
The Tiggo 7 Pro follows up from which, whilst an unnamed third new offering will arrive circa the final quarter (Q4) of this year. Though this third new model wasn’t named, hints from the firm indicate that the fifth entry into its local line-up point in the direction of the Tiggo 4 Pro compact SUV offering.

Unlike the model first shown in 2022 (right), the latest version previewed today (left) saw some mild exterior revisions.

The most noticeable changes lie in the front bumper.
Back to the Tiggo 7 Pro previewed today, there aren’t any changes in its technical specifications and features list – Chery Malaysia had already disclosed both earlier this year. Like the Omoda 5 and larger Tiggo 8 Pro, the Tiggo 7 Pro is also locally assembled (CKD) through Inokom.
There are several minor aesthetic changes to note. Unlike the model previewed initially back in 2022, the Tiggo 7 Pro unit shown to press today bears a re-styled front bumper, which now features new surround trims on each side between each headlight and foglamp.
Similarly, the Tiggo 7 Pro’s derriere has also undergone a mild nip-tuck, featuring re-designed trims and surrounds in the lower half. Beyond these, there are no other exterior changes to note, but one thing is certain: the Tiggo 7 Pro doesn’t look to shabby indeed.

Mechanically, things remain unchanged. The Tiggo 7 Pro comes with a 1.6-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol heart that's paired with a 7-speed DCT box.
Mechanically, the Tiggo 7 Pro adopts a 1.6-litre 4-cyl 4-cyl turbocharged petrol mill outputting 197 HP and 290 NM. Drive goes to the front wheels (FWD) via a 7-speed DCT auto box, and Chery touts this package in boasting a respectable 7.0- litres/100 KM fuel economy average.
As for dimensions, the Tiggo 7 Pro sits 4,513 MM long with a 2,670 MM wheelbase, 1,862 MM wide, and 1,696 MM tall with a 175 MM ground clearance. For perspective, the Tiggo 7 Pro’s footprint is very much comparable to the Proton X70.

On board, the Tiggo 7 Pro shares a similarly designed – and furnished – cabin as the larger Tiggo 8 Pro. The key difference between the two besides size, powertrain, and perhaps price is the total number of seats – five (Tiggo 7 Pro) across two rows versus seven (Tiggo 8 Pro) across three rows.
Kit is also similar as the Tiggo 7 Pro’s dash is dominated by a 24.6-inch digital integrated dual-display setup, with its infotainment touchscreen half offering the all-important Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Next to it is a rich and highly interactive instrument display panel.
Said infotainment is further bolstered by a 50-watt wireless charging pad and an 8-speaker Sony hi-fi audio suite. Present in the cabin too is a novel 64-colour ambient lighting suite. As for seat and dash upholstery, the choice material here is plush leatherette.

The standard boot capacity reads at 475 litres, and is expandable to 1,672 litres with the rear seats folded.
Crucially, much like the larger Tiggo 8 Pro again, the Tiggo 7 Pro comes laced with a bevy of active driver assistance (ADAS) features, with Chery Malaysia highlighting no less than 16 of which primed as standard.
Included are Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Front Collision Warning (FWC) and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane-Departure Warning (LDW) with Lane-Change Assist (LCA) and Lane-Departure Prevention (LD), Blind-spot Detection (BSD), and much more.
Altogether, these ADAS features once again sees this Chery-badged offering promise at least Level 2 semi-autonomous driving abilities – a recurring theme in all of Chery Malaysia’s offering thus far. It also contributed to the Tiggo 7 Pro’s acclaimed 5-star ANCAP rating.
Lastly comes the promise of respectable practicality with Chery Malaysia highlighting the Tiggo 7 Pro’s standard boot capacity of 475 litres. This can also be expanded further to a cavernous 1,672 litres thanks to split-folding rear seats.

Open for bookings now and set to be displayed at key Chery showrooms and dealers nationwide starting middle of next month (April), the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro comes in four paintjob options including a pair of dual-tone choices (red or white with black roof) and two single-tone hues (black and blue).
As today’s preview, Chery Malaysia also announced an estimated ceiling price of RM130,000. No word on after-sales coverage just yet, but expect the Chery Malaysia to offer its standard 7-year or 150,000 KM warranty plus 5-year free service (T&Cs apply) package.
So, what do you folks reckon then? Would you fancy this budding left-field Chinese fighter over rivals like the Proton mentioned? Or perhaps the established Japanese and Korean offerings even? As always, share your take in the comments below, as well as our social media pages…
