RapidKL Bus Catches Fire Along Jalan Syed Putra In Taman Seputeh

This morning at 8 a.m., a Rapid KL double-decker bus on the 640 route towards Jalan Klang Lama caught fire close to a bus stop along Jalan Syed Putra in Taman Seputeh. There were no reported injuries.

It is believed that as soon as the bus driver realized there was a fire at the back of the vehicle, he quickly pulled over and told the seven occupants to get out of the bus. The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) was dispatched to the scene at 8.16 a.m. Rapid Bus issued a statement today stating, "The fire was successfully extinguished by JBPM, and a tow truck has been engaged." A total of sixteen firefighters were sent to the location at 8:06 in the morning after an emergency call was received. 90% of the bus was completely consumed by flames, as confirmed by the department. “The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” the department added in a statement.
