VW ID.7 GTX Tourer Debuts As The Marque’s Fastest Wagon Ever

The all-new Volkswagen ID.7 GTX Tourer debuts as the German marque’s most powerful wagon to date.
Aside from the ID.3 GTX EV hot-hatch, renowned German marque Volkswagen has also expanded its sport GTX EV lineup by debuting the new Volkswagen ID.7 GTX Tourer. Based on the standard ID.7 Tourer EV wagon, this GTX-badged model is touted as the fastest and most potent long-roofed wagon ever produced by the Wolfsburg-based marque.

The ID.7 GTX Tourer gets a peppy dual-motor AWD setup rated at 335 HP, making it the most powerful wagon ever produced by Volkswagen ever.
Contributing to said title is the ID.7 GTX Tourer’s dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup, which features dedicated electronic differential locks. With a total system output of 335 HP (250 kW), the ID.7 GTX boasts a significant 54 HP (40 kW) gain over the standard ID.7 wagon. Although VW has yet to reveal its official sprint time figures, this EV wagon tops out at 180 KM/H.
Complementing this power boost are the re-tuned progressive steering system, stronger stabilisers, as well as an optional adaptive chassis control system. Should drivers want to have more fun, the ID.7 GTX also comes with an ESC Sport mode for some tail-wagging action.

Battery-wise, the ID.7 GTX Tourer gets a larger 86-kWh lithium-ion unit that supports DCFC at up to 200 kW, allowing the pack to be charged from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes. However, VW has yet to reveal the claimed EV range for this EV wagon, but we’d reckon it’ll be less than the standard ID.7 Tourer boasts due to the peppier motor setup the ID.7 GTX Tourer boasts.

The ID.7 GTX Tourer gets some sporty bits on the exterior, alongside some exclusive colourways.
On the visual front, the ID.7 GTX Tourer gains some minor design tweaks to differentiate it from the non-GTX variants. Key highlights present on the exterior include the new honeycomb front grille inserts plus the same boomerang-shaped DRLs as we saw on the ID.3 GTX, a slew of high gloss black accents, all while rolling on standard 20-inch alloy wheels with an option to upsize to larger 21-inch units.

The subtle changes continue at the rear part, as the ID.7 GTX gets sporty rear bumper accents with diffuser-like design elements, an illuminated VW badge on the tailgate, as well as customisable 3D LED taillights.

Similar to the ID.3 GTX, the ID.7 GTX Tourer cabin comes with a red-and-black colour theme, featuring several GTX-specific parts and equipment.
The GTX-ification goes on as we get inside the ID.7 GTX Tourer, where it gets several GTX-specific parts, including both the standard sporty seats with GTX letterings and the leather-wrapped steering wheel. Similar to the ID.3 GTX, the ID.7 GTX also comes with optional ergoActive sporty front seats with adjustable thigh support, which are offered alongside the 700-watt Harman Kardon sound system as part of the Interior Plus Package.

Other tech amenities present here include the new central infotainment display that comes with ChatGPT integration, VW’s new IDA voice assistance, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Several active safety features present here include adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane and emergency assist, autonomous emergency braking, and dynamic road sign display.

Unfortunately, the VW ID.7 GTX Tourer is a European exclusive model, for now.
Set to arrive in European markets later in spring, Volkswagen has yet to reveal the pricing for the new ID.7 GTX Tourer, though we’d reckon it’ll be costlier than the standard ID.7 Tourer wagon. Similar to the baseline EV wagon, the ID.7 GTX Tourer is a Euro-exclusive product for now, with no plans iterated by VW on its availability beyond the Old Continent’s market.
