Auto China 2024: Sleek Mazda EZ-6 EV Saloon Debuts

The Mazda EZ-6 EV saloon is perhaps one of the prettiest new metal we sized up in the flesh at Auto China 2024 this week.
Arguably one of the prettiest car we sized up in the flesh at Auto China 2024 this week, it wouldn’t be wrong for anyone to hail the sleek new Mazda EZ-6 as a preview of sorts for the next-generation Mazda 6 saloon.
According to reputable sources online, the EZ-6 heavily underpins the Deepal SL03 made by the Japanese automaker’s Chinese partners Changan. Together, both Mazda and Changan are reportedly set to put the EZ-6 into production before the end of this year too.
Standing as just the third all-electric creation to wear a Mazda badge, the EZ-6 sits 4,921 MM long, 1,890 MM wide, and 1,45 MM tall. In full EV form, Mazda touts the EZ-6 in having a perfect 50:50 weight distribution as well.

Underneath, the Mazda EZ-6 shares the same base as the Deepal SL03 made by the Japanese brand's Chinese partners Changan.
In terms of design, the EZ-6 adopts Mazda’s ‘Soul of Motion’ design ethos, thus explaining its dynamic front and rear fascia, slim LED headlights, not forgetting the bold grille these flanks. As for proportions, the EZ-6 mirrors the Deepal SL03 by having a long front end and short rear.
Other key touches of the exterior include pop-out door handles, frameless windows, active rear spoiler, striking 19-inch two-tone ‘Aero; wheels, as well as a dynamic rear taillight bar spanning across the entire tailgate. Overall, the EZ-6’s design is nothing short of spectacular.

Dynamic front and rear aside, notable design touches include pop-out door handles, striking 19-inch two-tone 'Aero' wheels, and an active rear spoiler.
The same applies with its interior design, though much of what’s seen here mirrors what’s available in its Changan-made twin too. Highlights include massive 14.6-inch infotainment and 10.2-inch instrument display (both digital), flat-bottomed steering wheel, bespoke centre console, slim air vents, and the presence of a novel cabin ambient lighting suite.
Other key equipment laced on board include zero-gravity seats, wireless charging pad, Sony audio suite, and a panoramic roof. Noteworthy too is the fact that the digital displays mentioned will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.

On board, the Mazda EZ-6 shares plenty of similarities as its Changan-made twin. Key features primed include digital displays powered by a powerful Qualcomm chip, Zero Gravity seats, cabin ambient lighting, panoramic roof, and more.
Mazda were coy about technical specs other than confirming that the EZ-6 will be available with both full-electric (EV) and range extender (RE) powertrain choices. Mazda even touts the full-EV in having up to 600 KM of range, and up to 1,000 KM range on a single tank for the RE.
Crucially, the EZ-6 will also adopt a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup, and it will also ride on front strut with multi-link rear suspension assemblies too.
For now, it remains unclear still if Mazda will offer the production version of the EZ-6 overseas, but we won’t discount this possibility just yet given how good – and complete! – this concept looked whilst on show in Mazda’s stand at Auto China 2024.
Perhaps the only thing left now is for Mazda – and Changan – to spawn a ‘Touring’ estate (wagon) version of this sleek saloon…
