BMW iX2 xDrive30 Pre-Orders Open – 66.5 kWh Battery, 449 KM Range, From RM282,800

BMW Group Malaysia expands its local EV line-up by opening limited (100 units) pre-orders for the new U11-gen BMW iX2 xDrive30.
BMW Group Malaysia is expanding its local electric vehicle (EV) line-up with the introduction of the new BMW iX2. Essentially, this is sporty coupe-roofed twin to the iX1 (chassis code: U11) model, and it’s now open for pre-bookings with just one single variant available – the iX2 xDrive30.
Registration of Interest (ROI) was initially opened locally back in Jan right around the same time when its combustion (ICE)-powered X2 twin – both carrying the U10 chassis code designation – made its regional ASEAN debut at the Singapore Motor Show 2024.
A quick check online via the firm’s website reveals that said pre-booking is limited to just 100 units, each commanding a starting price tag of RM282,800. With the BMW Service & Repair Inclusive package added, the price raises by RM14,200 to RM297,000 instead.

The iX2 xDrive30 (chassis code: U10, right) is essentially the sportier, coupe-roofed twin of the BMW iX1 (chassis code: U10, left) model that debuted locally first last year.
Just like its standard-bodied iX1 twin, which launched locally in xDrive30 M Sport guise also last year, the iX2 xDrive30 harnesses the same dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup juiced by a 66.5 kWh battery pack.
This lower-roofed twin also has the same 313 HP peak output figure, as well as the same 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 5.6 seconds and electronically capped 180 KM/H V-Max. Unchanged too are AC and DC charging input limits, the former up to 11 kW and the latter capped at 130 KW.
According to BMW Group Malaysia, the iX2 xDrive30 boasts a slightly higher claimed WLTP range over its iX1 twin – 449 KM versus 440 KM respectively. This is likely due to its more aerodynamically slippery sloped coupe-like roof design.

The sleeker roofline is aerodynamically more slippery, thus explaining the iX2's slightly higher claimed WLTP range of 449 KM.

The iX2 also promises to be a sportier drive thanks to its upgraded stabiliser bearings, Adaptive M Suspension, M Sport Steering, M Sport Brakes, and 20-inch two-tone M wheels.
Additionally, the iX2 xDrive30 also differs from the iX1 model mentioned with its chassis as BMW notes this coupe-roofed twin’s adoption of upgraded stabiliser bearings on the front spring-strut axle and the multi-link rear axle. This promises improved steering precision and roll stability.
Other notably chassis hardware primed include the Adaptive M Suspension and M Sport Steering, as well as M Sport Brakes hiding behind V-spoke style 873 M Bicolour 20-inch M light alloy wheels.
On board, the list of tech primed here is more or less similar as what’s seen in the iX1 too, albeit with some differences. Leading the differences here is the iX2’s incorporation of a control system based on the Android Open Source, for the first time.
Otherwise, it’s the usual BMW affair featuring all-digital combined infotainment (10.7-inch) and instrument (10.25-inch) displays, full-colour heads-up display (HUD), cooled wireless charging tray, premium Harman Kardon audio suite, powered tailgate, and more.

A total of seven exterior paintjob options plus five interior colourway choices are available for the iX2 xDrive30.
Also present are a barrage of active driver assistance (ADAS) features via the Active Guard Basis, Driving Assistant Plus and Parking Assistant Plus packages, which are all standard-equipped.
Lastly, the new BMW iX2 xDrive30 see no less than seven exterior paintjob options plus five interior colourway choices.
So, what do you folks reckon then? Fancy this swoopy, coupe-roofed Bavarian EV crossover over its box-shaped twin? Or would you prefer its recently upgraded Malaysia-made Swedish rival? Hit the comments below, and our social media pages.
