Could This Be The Upcoming Xiaomi SU8 EV SUV?

These rendered images preview the upcoming SU8 EV SUV by Xiaomi, possibly launching later this year.
Following the rave reviews of its first EV model, the SU7, Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is in the midst of developing its second EV, possibly coming in a more practical SUV form. Fortunately, we don’t need to use our imagination to depict the upcoming EV SUV by Xiaomi, as renowned automotive designer Sugar Design (@sugardesign_1) has published several rendered images of this new model.

Dubbed the ‘SU8’, this EV SUV carries some design traits from the actual SU7 EV, notably both the front and rear lights design, as well as the whole front face. Besides that, the SU8 is a pretty sporty-looking EV SUV, with its whole body style reminiscent of the Ferrari Purosangue. Aptly, the Purosangue homage does not end there, as the rendered SU8 appears to sport the same rear suicide doors seen on said Italian crossover.

The upcoming Xiaomi SU8 reportedly comes in both BEV and EREV forms.
Renderings aside, the upcoming Xiaomi SU8 (or whatever Xiaomi really decides to call it) will reportedly arrive in both battery-electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) forms, thus making it the brand’s first model to come with said powertrain setup. According to Chinese publication MyDrivers, this EV SUV won’t underpin the same Modena platform used on the SU7, as it will use a dedicated platform that also caters to the EREV version.
In terms of dimensions, the new SU8 EV SUV is touted to be about the same size as the Porsche Cayenne and the Li Auto L9, the latter being its closest competition since it also comes in both BEV and EREV forms.

As of now, Xiaomi has yet to reveal any plans pertaining to its second EV model, although MyDrivers again reported that the SU8 EV SUV could make its debut as soon as late this year, citing the rave reviews garnered by the SU7 as the main driving force.

All the 2024 allocations for the Xiaomi SU7 EV has been sold in just 24 hours.
Xiaomi’s first EV launch turned out to be a huge one for the Chinese brand, as more than 50,000 orders were charted within the first 27 minutes of its booking commencement, with the whole year’s worth of stock being sold out in just 24 hours.
More importantly, the SU7’s launch success also helped to surge Xiaomi’s share price, with its whole valuation increasing by up to $7.6 billion (RM36 billion approx.) in just a few days. In total, the Chinese tech giant is currently valued at $55.2 billion (RM261 billion).
