Hyundai Confirms New 'Ioniq 7' Three-Row EV SUV

Hyundai has confirmed that a new three-row EV SUV, possibly called the Ioniq 7, is slated to debut later this year.
Hyundai has confirmed that it will launch an all-new, three-row EV SUV this year. This unnamed EV model will essentially be Hyundai’s counterpart to the Kia EV9, where it will be positioned as the all-electric alternative to the marque’s current flagship SUV, the Hyundai Palisade.

This new mysterious three-row EV SUV has been perpetrated to be called the Ioniq 7, considering its positioning in the marque’s current Ioniq lineup, which only comprises both the Ioniq 5 crossover and the Ioniq 6 fastback saloon. From Hyundai’s upcoming 2025 model portfolio, however, we can’t find any bits to confirm that this new three-row EV SUV will be called the Ioniq 7, so it might get another name.

Hyundai Seven Concept
Regardless of what Hyundai will call it, this new three-row EV SUV will be based on the Hyundai Seven EV concept unveiled back in 2021. This design study has already spawned the Kia EV9, and the new Ioniq 7 (or whatever Hyundai decides to name it) will be the second model to be based on it.

The production version of the Seven Concept (left) may feature the same radical design features like we saw on the new fifth-gen Hyundai Santa Fe (right).
As a result, we can expect the new Ioniq 7 to boast some similar design cues and features, not only from the Seven concept but also from fellow Ioniq EV models. Given how radical and daring Hyundai has been with designing its SUVs of late, with key examples being the new Hyundai Santa Fe, this new three-row EV SUV might feature some eye-opening design features that’ll set it apart from other more ‘vanilla’ competitors.

Malaysian-spec Kia EV9 GT-Line
Similarly, we can also expect this new EV SUV to have the same powertrain and battery specs as the EV9, including the E-GMP platform it underpins. In Kia’s flagship SUV case, the EV9 is offered in both single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD powertrain flavours, with the high-performance GT variant capable of delivering up to 576 HP (430 kW).
Battery-wise, the Ioniq 7 may get the same two battery options as the EV9, with the smaller one measuring 76.1-kWh in capacity and offering up to 370 KM of EV range, while the larger 99.8-kWh unit pushes its maximum EV range to 483 KM.

As we mentioned earlier, Hyundai is slated to launch this new three-row EV SUV some time later this year. Joining this new EV SUV in the marque’s 2025 lineup portfolio are both the recently-facelifted Ioniq 5 EV crossover and Tucson SUV, as well as the Santa Cruz pick-up truck.
