The Road Transport Department (JPJ) sees its fleet rejuvenated recently as it took delivery of brand new Toyota Fortuner SUVs. The new fleet was revealed via a post on the department’s official Facebook page which included pictures from a recently held ceremony to officially receive them.
Said ceremony was held recently and saw the new Fortuner units handed over to state headquarters by the department’s Director General Datuk Rospiagos Bin Taha.

In said Facebook post, the department detailed that the SUVs – 58 units in total – were acquired under its recent ‘Program Cakna Madani Agensi Penguatkuasa’ initiative announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim prior.
Through which, the government had allocated a RM100 million budget to enforcement agencies. JPJ’s portion was approved for these recent acquisition of new Toyota Fortuner SUVs, which amounted to roughly RM10.4 million in total.

Current-gen Toyota Fortuner retailed by UMW Toyota Motor.
Assuming said expenditure were for the Fortuner SUVs alone, that roughly equates to each new unit costing RM179.310. For reference, UMW Toyota Motor presently retails the Fortuner from RM195,880 (2.4 AT 4WD, diesel), RM197,880 (2.7 SRZ AT 4WD, petrol), and RM236,880 (2.8 VRZ AT 4WD, diesel).
These new Toyota Fortuner SUVs were fleeted in a rather timely manner as the department noted its urgent need for new vehicles. These will now replace the department’s existing fleet, which largely consists of the previous-generation Toyota Fortuner model, some aged between 10 and 12 years old.
JPJ further notes that the new vehicles acquires are poised to spur productivity and empower the preparedness for enforcement among officers nationwide.
