Updated 2025 Chery eQ7 EV SUV Goes on Sale in China

The newly-updated Chery eQ7 EV SUV goes on sale in China, featuring up to 512 KM of range and 208 HP.
Chery has recently launched the 2025 model year (2025 MY) updated version of its eQ7 EV SUV. Also known as the Chery Shuxiangjia in its native Chinese market, this updated EV SUV comes in two variants for its latest version, namely the baseline Ziyou Edition and the range-topping Changyou Edition.

Positioned as Chery’s midsize EV SUV fighter, the eQ7 measures 4,675 MM long, 1,910 MM wide, 1,660 MM tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,830 MM, making it slightly smaller than the brand’s petrol-powered D-SUV model, the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro. Mind you, while the Tiggo 8 Pro boasts a three-row seating layout, the eQ7 only comes with two rows of seats.

No design changes have taken place on the new eQ7's exterior.
Compared to the previous version, the updated eQ7 boasts no design changes for the exterior part, featuring an enclosed front face with dual-stack LED headlights, a sporty side profile with sleek roofline, and full-width LED taillights coupled with prominent rear bumper accents.

Similarly, no major changes have been made to the 2025 Chery eQ7’s interior, as it gets the same dual-screen setup comprising a 12.3-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as before. Also similar to the previous version are the flat-bottomed steering wheel, the soft touch-wrapped front dash, as well as the powered, ventilated, and heated front seats.
The only new features we can find for the updated model are the powered tailgate, the front parking sensor, an acoustic glass for the front windscreen, and a new 8-speaker sound system.
Differentiating the two variants are some additional safety features for the interior, with the baseline Ziyou Edition getting basic safety functions such as the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a rear parking sensor, and a standard cruise control.
Meanwhile, the top-spec Changyou Edition adds extra side curtain airbags, plus several ADAS functions like autonomous emergency braking (AEB), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and many more.

The eQ7 continues to be powered by an RWD motor setup rated at 280 HP and 285 NM.
For the 2025 MY update, the eQ7 is now exclusively powered by a single, rear-mounted (RWD) motor setup rated at 208 HP and 285 NM, while being juiced by a 67.12-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack that provides a CLTC range of 512 KM. Said battery pack has been fitted with an upgraded intelligent battery thermal management system, which allows the car to charge from 30-80% in 30 minutes, while slow charging takes eight hours.

Now available on sale in its native Chinese market, the all-new 2025 Chery eQ7 starts at CNY 159,900 (RM97,619) for the baseline Ziyou Edition, while the top-spec Changyou Edition is tagged higher at CNY 164,900 (RM100,672).
Besides China, the Chery eQ7 is also on sale in several international markets, where it is known as the Chery Tiggo 6 in the Russian market. While Chery Auto Malaysia has yet to iterate on any plans of bringing in this EV SUV model into our market, we’ve recently spotted one running some tests here in Malaysia, although said model donned a slightly different nameplate.
