50,000th CKD Volkswagen Rolls Of The Line In Pekan, Pahang

Revealed via LinkedIn earlier today by VPCM, VGM's local assembly (CKD) operations in Pekan, Pahang have reached the 50,000th mark.
It appears that Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM), not to be confused with the PHS-owned Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) distribution and sales entity, marked a major milestone this week with its local assembly (CKD) operations in Pekan, Pahang.
In a LinkedIn post shared by VPCM, VGM’s CKD operations has reached the 50,000th vehicle mark earlier this week. Coincidentally, the model to reach said mark is an eighth-gen VW Golf GTI hot hatch finished in Oryx White paint.
Apart from the Golf GTI, VGM’s Pekan CKD facility also present assembles the eighth-gen Golf R, the Arteon four-door fastback saloon, and the Tiguan Allspace SUVs range. Recently inducted into this production line too is the Touareg luxury SUV.

During the Golf Fan Fest 2024, VPCM celebrated the Golf's half-century by setting a Malaysian Book of Records entry with the largest ever Golf gathering held in Malaysia.
From the image shared, we can see a small ceremony was held by VGM to commemorate the occasion. This follows up from counterparts VPCM’s recent efforts through its Golf Fan Fest 2024 event held at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit celebrating the Golf’s half-century.
During said event, VPCM also set a new Malaysian Book of Records entry with the largest ever VW Golf model gathering totalling at 370 cars spanning multiple generations. At the same event, VPCM also launched the Golf GTI Edition 50 limited-run special priced at RM267,990 (with VAP).
VGM’s Pekan CKD plant has been in operation since 2012 where it first started assembling the B7-gen Passat sedan. It later went on to also churn our the Polo compact in both five-door hatch and four-door sedan forms, as well as the A6-gen Jetta mid-sized saloon.
