Bermaz Auto Berhad (BAuto), through its newly formed subsidiary, Bermaz Changan Sdn Bhd (BCSB), has been appointed the official distributor of Deepal electric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia. This partnership includes vehicle sales, spare parts, and aftersales services.

The distributorship was awarded by Mobitech Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Changan Automobile, one of China’s leading automotive manufacturers based in Chongqing, China. Changan has over 40 years of experience in car manufacturing, with 13 production facilities and 34 vehicle and powertrain plants worldwide.

As reported previously, Changan is constructing its first overseas plant in Rayong, Thailand, at a cost of THB 8.8 billion (RM 1.13 billion) under Phase 1. This facility, expected to begin operations in early 2025, will include assembly lines for vehicles, engines, and batteries with a production capacity of 100,000 vehicles annually.

In Phase 2, Changan plans to invest THB 20 billion (RM 2.6 billion) to build a new energy vehicle plant with a capacity of 200,000 vehicles per year. This expansion aims to serve ASEAN markets and right-hand-drive markets globally.

BAuto CEO Dato’ Francis Lee expressed excitement about the Deepal distributorship, highlighting the brand’s innovative EV designs, advanced technology, and strong performance. He emphasized that the partnership aligns with BAuto’s sustainability goals by introducing more eco-friendly vehicles to the market.

Mr. Shen Xing Hua, President of Changan Auto Southeast Asia, added that Changan’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction remains a top priority. He noted that Changan vehicles have previously been well-received in Malaysia.

The first Deepal models set to launch in Malaysia are the S05 (compact SUV) and S07 (mid-size SUV), offering Malaysians new options for green and energy-efficient mobility.
