Penang LRT: Nine “Park and Ride” Facilities With 1,100 Parking Space

Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations in Penang as part of a "Park and Ride" initiative will offer a total of 1,100 parking spaces across nine station locations to promote greater use of the LRT system.
According to Penang State Transport, Infrastructure, and Digital Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari, the upcoming Penang LRT project will feature 21 stations, with 20 located on Penang Island and one at Penang Sentral.

The Mutiara Line, developed by MRT Corporation, will serve as a key link between Penang Island and Seberang Perai, following the Bayan Lepas–Komtar route.
“All stations will be elevated, with the proposed Mutiara Line starting from Silicon Island and extending northward to various key locations, including Permatang Damar Laut, Penang International Airport, Sungai Tiram, Free Industrial Zone South, Free Industrial Zone, Jalan Tengah, SPICE, Bukit Jambul, Sungai Nibong, Sungai Dua, Batu Uban, Jalan Universiti, Gelugor, Penang Waterfront, East Jelutong, Sungai Pinang, Bandar Sri Pinang, Macallum Street, and Komtar,” Zairil explained.

From the Macallum Street station, the line will continue via the bridge to connect to Penang Sentral in Seberang Perai.
The nine stations that will include the "Park and Ride" facilities according to Zairil is Permatang Damar Laut, Jalan Tengah, Bukit Jambul, Sungai Dua, Jalan Universiti, Gelugor, Sungai Pinang, Bandar Sri Pinang, and Penang Sentral.
