2025 Denza D9 Debuts with ‘God’s Eye’ ADAS

The 2025 Denza D9 was officially launched in China recently, available in five plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants and three all-electric (EV) variants, priced between RMB 339,800 to RMB 469,800 (RM208,000 to RM288,000).
The key highlight of this face-lifted Denza D9 is its advanced BYD "God’s Eye" BAS 3.0+ driver assistance system. The current Denza D9 has sold over 93,000 units and will start fulfilling global orders supposedly in Q4 this year.

While the 2025 Denza D9 maintains a familiar exterior design, it introduces a roof-mounted lidar that enables the “God’s Eye” system where 32 sensors are incorporated to offer a slew of driver assistance features. It includes high-speed and city navigation functions, traffic light start-stop, lane departure recognition, obstacle avoidance and automatic emergency braking up to speeds of 120 KM/H.
The 2025 model will also feature new 18-inch multi-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, BYD’s DiSus-C continuous damping control system, intelligent comfort control technology (iCCT) and an intelligent four-wheel drive system.

According to BYD, the 2025 Denza D9 which measures 5,250 MM long with a 3,110 MM wheelbase, 1,960 MM wide and 1,900 mm tall, accommodates seven adults (up to 1.8 meters tall) along with seven carry-on suitcases and backpacks - emphasising its practicality in a family or group travel setting.
In China, PHEV variants see their upgraded 1.5T engine produce 154 HP, marking a 17 HP boost from before.

The PHEV front-wheel drive (FWD) variants boasts a 200 kW (268 HP) electric motor, while the all-wheel drive (AWD) feature an additional 45 kW (60 HP) rear motor. Equipped with a 39.9 kWh Blade LFP battery pack, the PHEV is able to deliver up to 200 KM pure EV range and up to 1,100 KM combined range. Top speed is rated at 190 KM/H.
EV models also feature an 800V architecture platform, enabling 0-80% fast-charge in about 7 minutes. Both EV variants are primed with a 103 kWh Blade LFP battery pack offering up to 620 KM of driving range, depending on the configuration.
It’s worth noting that all the declared range figures are based on highly optimistic CLTC standards.expect much lower - read: realistic - WLTP figures.

Inside, the 2025 Denza D9 introduces several updates while retaining its luxurious layout. Highlights include a co-pilot entertainment screen, upgraded 7.5-litre on board refrigerator supporting both cooling and heating, zero-gravity second-row seats, power-adjustable third-row seats and a retainer for the second-row wireless charging slot.
Additionally, the 2025 models also offer a 10-screen interconnected system, encompassing the central control screen, LCD instrument panel, HUD, rear seat screens, second-row armrest screens, digital rearview mirror, and a refrigerator touch screen.

Now despite the Denza D9 having been launched in markets such as Thailand and Singapore followed by Malaysia soon in Q1 2025 these, markets would most likely still get the 2024 variant of the Denza D9 available in right-hand-drive (RHD) configuration.
For these markets too, EV variants are being offered first. PHEV options are expected to follow later in the year, aligning with growing global trends favoring hybrid and plug-in hybrid adoption.
Analysts predict 2025 will see a significant rise in hybrid vehicle adoption, as automakers seek to counter declining EV sales and mitigate high tariffs for EVs entering the EU market.
