Tesla Cybertruck Contains Blast At Trump Hotel, Minimal Damage

An explosion outside President-elect Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel early Wednesday killed a suspect inside a Tesla Cybertruck and injured seven nearby, sparking a federal investigation into potential terrorism.
Firework mortars and camp fuel canisters were discovered packed into the truck bed, leading investigators to believe the blast was deliberate.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and the FBI are working to confirm the identity of the deceased. It is believed the deceased had rented the Cybertruck via a car rental marketplace, Turo in Colorado.

Surveillance footage from Tesla charging stations helped authorities track the vehicle to Las Vegas, where it arrived around 7.30 AM. It exploded within seconds of parking in the valet area of Trump International Hotel.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the blast was caused by external explosives and was unrelated to the vehicle’s design, emphasising that all vehicle telemetry showed no faults before the incident. Musk went on to add, “We’ve never seen anything like this.”

Another X user, @sentdefender, highlighted the durability of the Tesla Cybertruck, noting that its 1.4mm body panels and 1.8mm door contained most of the explosion sustaining only minimal damage from the explosion. Remarkably, the blast failed to shatter the hotel lobby windows, just feet from the vehicle.

Video presented by investigators also showed charred fireworks, canisters, and other explosives in Cybertruck's bed. The truck’s bed walls remained intact as the blast shot upward, minimizing horizontal damage.
Las Vegas Police Sheriff Kevin McMahill acknowledged the political implications of the incident and is exploring it as part of the investigation.”
