The mighty three-point star marque created quite the buzz during Auto Shanghai 2025 held earlier this week with its wildly styled and striking new concept pictured.
Effectively the Mercedes-Benz Vision V Concept featured previews the marque’s upcoming new VLE and VLS models, which will form the brand’s future luxury EV vans range that underpin its new VAN.EA (Van Electric Architecture) base.

Mercedes-Benz says the striking exterior design "marks the next step" of its design direction.
The concept features a striking exterior that “marks the next step” of the marque’s design direction, especially in term of aerodynamic efficiency – arguably a key towards maximising range for the eventual production EV, that will likely be a hefty machine too.
Notably, Mercedes-Benz hinted that that the concept’s bizarre new grille design, which mirrors the one seen in the face-lifted EQS, as well as its striking new headlights, and the lit-up hood ornament even, could all make into the final production version mentioned.

Mercedes-Benz hints that elements like the lit-up hood ornament, new front grille, and striking headlights could make production. The wild taillight bar, on the other hand, might be toned down instead.
The wild-looking taillight bar, on the other will be toned-down instead. Overall, we reckon the final version should be styled in way where it will stand more appealing than its current concept form – it’s typically a tad too wild, as how most concept cars are.
Exterior aside, Mercedes-Benz invested heavy effort into the Vision V Concept’s cabin, which features a four-seat layout that’s equally dramatic as it is upmarket and posh. The key focus here was creating a “private lounge” for rear passengers, says the firm.

The rear passenger quarter sees rich use of Nappa leather, whilst the massive 65-inch cinema screen doubles up as a partition. Primed here too is a 42-speaker audio suite, as well as seven projectors.

The latter is evident through the rich use of Nappa leather, but the real highlights is the massive 65-inch cinema screen primed. Doubling up as a partition wall, said screen is paired with a 42-speaker audio system as well.
Additionally, the presence of seven projectors that create different ambiences, followed by rear windows that boast the ability to switch from transparent opaque electronically. Altogether, there are seven modes here including “karaoke”, “gaming”, and “relax”.

The rear passenger seats in this concept, which are both airline-style and made with tubular cushions, are also fully reclinable.
Rear passengers get to bask in all this from the comforts of a pair of airline-style seats too. Not only are these fully reclinable, they’re also made with tubular cushions, and we’ll admit that they’re looking comfortably plush in pictures too.
Perhaps the most realistic area of this concept is its cockpit. Here, elements that could be primed in production form are clear, and includes the steering wheel, triple-screen Superscreen display lifted from the new CLA, as well as the new crystal-look air vents.

Arguably the most realistic quarter of this concept is its cockpit, which features a production-ready steering wheel design and borrows the triple-screen Super screen setup from the new CLA.
Clearly, the massive interior real estate is afforded by the new modular VAN.EA platform base mentioned, which will be fitted with 800-volt electricals, as well as the choice of front- (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) powertrains promising up to 500 KM of range.
No doubt, Mercedes-Benz is eyeing up to rival against the likes of the Volvo EM90 and Lexus LM with the eventual production version of the Vision V Concept. Well, what do you folks think? Hit the comments then with your take…
