Chery iCar V27 Teased as Brand’s New Range-Extender SUV

iCar CEO Su Jun has published the first teaser image of the brand’s new range-extender SUV, the iCar V27.
Following its first Malaysian public debut at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025), Chery’s iCar sub-brand (also known as iCaur in Malaysia) has just published a teaser image of its new SUV model, the iCar V27. Published by iCar’s CEO Su Jun via his official Weibo page, this new SUV will feature a range-extender EV (REEV) powertrain setup and is already nicknamed the “Chinese G-Class” in China.

Previously seen doing tests on Chinese roads, the upcoming V27 is positioned as the brand’s large SUV, featuring a body length that spans over 4.9 metres long. From the teaser image and several spy shots, we can see that the V27 gets the same rugged, boxy SUV bodystyle as its other siblings.
Some key design highlights shown in this camo-wrapped prototype include rectangular LED headlights with rounded DRLs, vertical LED taillights, large side mirrors, a swing-out tailgate with a storage box mounted on it, plastic underbody claddings, and many more.
As of now, no interior photos of the new V27 were available around, but we can expect this REEV SUV to get the same high-tech and luxury cabin setup just like other iCar models. Given that iCar is borne out of a partnership between Chery and Xiaomi, we can also expect some high degree of autonomous driving capabilities primed to the V27.

From the iCar CEO’s social media post, we can now confirm that the iCar V27 will feature an REEV powertrain setup, featuring a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol engine that acts as the main generator to its electric motor setup. Again, no specific details were given on both its motor and battery setups, but CarNewsChina reports that the V27 will boast up to 200 km of EV-only range (CLTC), and it will be available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (FWD) configurations.
Said Chinese portal also reported that the upcoming Chery iCar V27 will cost somewhere between CNY 200,000 and CNY 250,000 (RM118,884 to RM148,606), thus making it one of the most expensive iCar models to date. Given its large size, we believe that the iCar V27 will be competing against other large electrified SUVs in China, such as the new Zeekr 9X, the BYD YangWang U8, and many more.
