Geely Galaxy E5 Long-Range Revealed – 68.39 kWh Battery, 610 KM Range

The Geely Galaxy E5 line-up got expanded with a newly added Long Range variant. This new Long Range guise was recently revealed via regulatory filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Visually, this new variant retains the sleek, modern styling of the Galaxy E5 which was launched in Aug 2024.
It continues with slim LED headlights, a sculpted lower bumper, and an optional closed grille with dot-matrix detailing. At the rear, the usual full-width LED taillight bar and silver trim are joined by new black Geely logos and badging, offering a bolder, sportier touch.

Signature features like black window trim, a panoramic sunroof, and stylish 18 or 19 inch alloy wheels are still retained.
While the design remains largely unchanged, the big news here is an upgraded battery pack offering increased 610 KM CLTC range (approx. 490 KM WLTP).

For reference, the existing 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh battery versions offer CLTC ranges of 440 KM (345 KM WLTP) and 530 KM (410 KM WLTP), respectively.
Charging options also remain unchanged, supporting 80 kW to 100 kW fast charging depending on the variant, and 11 kW AC slow charging. All trims continue to feature 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, allowing users to power external devices directly from the car.
Powering the new variant is the same 160 kW (214 HP) front-mounted 12-in-1 e-motor found in existing models.

The Galaxy E5 rides on Geely’s GEA electric architecture and is currently available in China in five trims, priced between RMB107,800 (RM63,000) and RMB143,800 (RM84,000).
In Malaysia, the right-hand-drive version of the Galaxy E5 is sold as the Proton e.MAS 7 across two variants - Prime and Premium. The Prime comes with the 49.52 kWh battery and is priced at RM109,800, while the Premium, featuring the larger 60.22 kWh pack, is priced at RM123,800.

Should Proton introduce this longer-range 68.39 kWh variant - perhaps branded as a Premium Long Range - it would immediately become the class leader in driving distance.
Currently, the longest WLTP-rated range among mid-size EV SUVs in Malaysia is around 430 KM, offered by both the Chery Omoda E5 and MGS5 Long Range.
With its extended range, familiar design, and potential for competitive pricing, the 68.39 kWh variant of the Galaxy E5 or the e.MAS 7 in Malaysia - is well-positioned to appeal to buyers seeking a reliable long-distance EV without breaking the bank.
