39 Summonses Issued In Melaka's 'Op Pinky' Bus Crackdown

The Melaka Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued 39 summonses during a statewide enforcement operation on staged bus services. Dubbed “Op Pinky,” the operation targeted driver behaviour, documentation, and bus roadworthiness, according to its director Siti Zarina Mohd Yusop.
Of the 34 buses inspected, 14 were found to have committed 25 offences. The most common violations were using mobile phones while driving and poor vehicle maintenance.
Other offences included failure to submit fare schedules, operator and route licenses, making illegal U-turns, and having expired fire extinguishers and Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licenses.

Some drivers were also found dropping off passengers at unauthorised locations and failing to stop when flagged down by commuters." she says in a press conference held in conjunction with the public auction on seized vehicles in Bukit Katil yesterday.
According to Siti Zarina, the initiative, launched in response to various incidents and public complaints about stage bus services in Melaka involved 39 RTD personnel, and was led by state Enforcement Division head Zulhelmi Zaidee.
"The department remains committed to ongoing enforcement efforts to ensure road user safety and maintain the highest standards in public transport services," she says.

Commenting on the auction, Siti Zarina revealed the department earned RM62,100 from auctioning 50 forfeited vehicles, with bids ranging from RM67 to RM8,700. Another 678 vehicles remain impounded for offences such as expired licences, underage driving, mechanical issues, and no insurance.
