Updated 2025 BYD Seal Confirmed for Malaysian Debut

The updated 2025 BYD Seal is set to debut in Malaysia later this week, BYD Cars Malaysia confirms.
Following a cryptic social media teaser, BYD Cars Malaysia has finally confirmed its new product launching later this week will be the updated 2025 BYD Seal. As unveiled via a post on its official Facebook page, the updated Seal EV is set to debut on Friday, Aug 22.
This update also answers the question lingering around since the cryptic teaser went up, with early reports suggesting that the new model could be the BYD Seal 5 DM-i plug-in hybrid (PHEV) sedan, which just debuted in Thailand earlier this month.

Using the Singapore-spec model as a reference, the updated Seal comes in three variants in the Island Republic, starting with the Dynamic that uses a 136 PS and 310 Nm rear-mounted (RWD) motor and a 61.44 kWh LFP battery pack for up to 460 km of WLTP range.

Next in line is the Premium, which gets a peppier single RWD motor setup rated at 313 PS and 360 Nm, while being juiced by a larger 82.56-kWh battery pack that provides 570 km of WLTP range. Last is the dual-motor AWD Performance variant that boasts a total system output of 530 PS and 670 Nm while using the same 82.56-kWh battery as the Premium, albeit with a discounted WLTP range of 520 km.
Unlike the China-spec model, the updated Seal in Singapore still gets the same charging performance as before, with AC charging capped at 7 kW for all variants, while DC figures go up to 150 kW in both the Premium and Performance, while the Dynamic only gets 110 kW of charging speed.

Also absent from the SG-spec updated Seal is the additional roof-mounted LiDAR unit and red BYD badging. Despite missing the LiDAR, the updated Seal still gets a host of ADAS functions, including blind spot detection (BSD), front and rear cross traffic alert and brake (FCTA, RCTA), forward collision warning (FCW), traffic sign recognition (TSR), and many more.

Some other key upgrades primed for the Singapore model include a larger 53-litre frunk, a new alloy wheel design, and the DiSus-C adaptive damper system, which is the same unit used on the Denza D9 AWD. Not to forget, the SG model also gets a new Shark Grey exterior paint colour, in addition to the existing Atlantis Grey, Aurora White, and Cosmos Black.
